Probably the best indicator of stability - or instability as the case may be - is my driving. I've been "up" the past two days, eating less, sleeping less, blah, blah, blah... Then this morning I had a one hour drive to my pdoc and it turned into insanity, overtaking at solid lines, 100+mph, squealing tires. I try to keep myself controlled, but behind the wheel hypomania eliminates all sensibility for me.

Now this afternoon I have another two hours in the car to and from the dentist. I almost think I shouldn't go.

How do you reign in reckless behavior?

Last time I drove while manic, I was speeding, weaving impatiently around cars, had the stereo up full blast. Singing and crying and laughing and screaming. It wasn't safe and I'm glad I made it home without hurting myself or others.

Can you try focusing heavily on your speed and driving? Maybe take an Uber or a cab? Whatever you decide, please be safe.

This morning I tried repeating, "Safety for others, not just myself," but I still lost control. I feel like a rabid dog. I fear at any minute I'm going to start foaming at the mouth and snarling at the people around me.

at least as far as the reckless driving goes, there is no controlling it for me. I've tried watching my speed consistently but 35mph is just so god damn slow, I cant take it. so sorry I don't really have any words of wisdom here for ya. but at least you're aware and thinking about it. the idea about not going to the dentist to avoid having to drive anymore than you have to might just be a good idea.

Rent a helicopter? Sorry, bad joke. I got nothing. I really think you should cancel the appointment and stay on the safe side.

HAHAHAAH. I like it.

I also want to get out of the house so my sons don't see me like this. (They're currently lost in a computer game in the other room.)

One time I drag raced some guy on the highway at 4am while driving to work.

First of all, I was driving to work early because I was convinced I was going to show my bosses that I was the best, most hardworking employee they ever had.

Secondly, I was driving 100 mph on the highway, weaving around cars, when I saw another guy doing the same thing. Then I was like, "oh hell no. I am WAAAAAY better than you!" So I sped up and started driving 110-120. I passed him and was like, "f*** yeah. eat s*** and die".

This was at my old job. Normally took me 30 mins to get to work. Got there in 15.

I think you should cancel it. It's not worth consequences if something happens. Believe me I know from experience. Nothing good comes out of stupid choices while manic.

Problem is I've always driven fast cars. I rather walk than driving my wife's Mazdas 6s.
Less than two month ago, I wrecked Hooker. A 40th Ann GT 'Vert bored and stroked. Of course, blower too. 380HP in the Dyno at the rear wheel.
I came in too hot at the rest stop on I-75. Couldn't make up my mind if to go right or left.
Ended up killing two big sign posts. Thanks to the meds, I've lost my reflexes. And my will to make a decision.
And, of course, if the sign says 35, even if your a little blind, don't do 85.

I have totally three count them three cars driving when manic. I don't think its a good idea at all. I didn't hurt anyone thank god. But I was hospitalized during all those times. I think its best you cancel the appointment till you get a grip or even a med change.

Best of luck, and if you do decide to go PLEASE PLEASE be careful!!!
