Put yourself first. I don't mean be selfish. I mean, realize that your needs are important. Don't let people walk over you. Don't feel obligated to do something for someone else if it means jeopardizing your mental health or stability. Speak up for yourself, even if you know it will make someone else feel awkward.
It's easier said than done, but still important.

Get to know yourself -really well! Figure out what moods are 'normal' for you(whether good or bad) and which are true episodes. I think this lessens anxiety, helps to not identify too much with the illness, and helps with knowing when to turn to meds and pdoc and when you can handle it yourself (whether it's taking a walk or using skills learned in therapy, for example).
