Does anyone else have anxiety a lot? I'm great at "catastrophizing."

So I'm sitting here at the GP's office, getting a physical. They have no record of my last HIV test, but they have no records before I got married (the year the electronic records start are 2012).

So I'm freaking out. What if I have HIV from my hypomanic hyper sexual days of my 20's??? What if I gave my husband HIV???

I know I should just stay calm and believe that I was tested, they just don't have the record at this doctor's office. I did see another doctor up until summer 2011.

Sheesh. *Breathing*

I do this all the time. For example, I have to get a background check for work, and I'm thinking to myself what if something mistakenly shows up? I've never been arrested, much less charged with anything, but mistakes happen all the time. And when I had to get my drug test I was freaking out that it would show positive for marijuana because I was around it (but didn't smoke). Of course everything worked out fine (well still waiting on the background check) but the anxiety is there.

I combat it by trying to redirect my thoughts and using positive self talk. I hope you get answers soon!

Do you remember if you had any STDs at all?

Also, HIV has a low transference rate anyway: Just How Risky Is It? Studies Shed Light on HIV Risk and Prevention

You're more likely to get HIV from a blood transfusion

Quote:
As expected, sexual exposure risks ranged from too low to quantify for oral sex, to 138 per 10,000 for receptive **** sex. Falling in between were insertive **** sex (11 per 10,000), receptive vaginal sex (8 per 10,000), and insertive vaginal sex (4 per 10,000).
I wouldn't worry too much about it. The risk is so low

Edit: In theory, I think if your "HIV" would've turned into AIDS, you probably would have seen symptoms by now:

"What if" you didn't. You fried your nerves for nothing.

Most county health clinics offer free HIV testing, at this point it's really unlikely that you have it or any STD as most all would show up in some form or another in your general health.
