I get this rage sometimes that just flares up out of nowhere. Sometimes I get it if someone does something to make me mad but sometimes it just comes on out of nowhere. It hit me the past two days really bad. I'm afraid my instability is returning. I need to stay stable for school. Also it just sucks.

I was on Lamictal for a few months and it kind of helped with my daily mood swings but I stopped it after I got hives and now I am feeling less in control. Not sure if it's the med or not but I'm afraid of backtracking.

😥

Depending on how long you were on Lamictal and then stopped it could explain the rage.... Did you get checked out by a Doctor when you broke out in Hives? It might not have had anything to do with Lamical.. Only a doctor can tell the difference.

Rage-y feelings are a part of Bipolar and even on a great combo of meds Bipolar can and will pop out and slap you very hard.. It's sneaky like that.

What coping skills are you using to help ease the rage?

Exercise is great , helps burn off some anger in most people.
Meditation
Mindfulness
any kind of soothing activites , I love reading and often can get lost in a book and get a break from being so angry.

Maybe a call to your Pdoc would be helpful? but regardless of a med or not , you can never have enough coping skills and when needed keep flinging coping skills at it until something sticks.

Hope your feeling better soon

I hope you feel better soon. Christina has some great suggestions.

I've never had what I considered a rage but I've had several months of hypomania with an edge to it. A slightly aggressive feeling underlying inside me. I never expressed it but I felt it. I was mindful of it, especially, if someone irritated me...how should I react, pause, think, etc. Maybe that will help you?

My pdoc recommends screaming into a pillow or punching it when angry.

Keep us posted and hang in there.

My mania exhibits as rage. No happy good feelings ever no extra energy just rage. So I got me one of those popup bags(you fill them with air and when you hit them they sit back up) and I beat the stuff out of it. I finger paint don't know why it helps me but it does. And I have an angry pillow that I beat the snot out of or scream into or whatever.

I also am very mindful of my reactions to things when I'm like that. I always take a deep breath before I answer anyone so I can have a pause and not snap at them.

I hope the feeling passes soon for you.

Rage is a really difficult thing to deal with and it comes hand in hand with Bipolar unfortunately. I am really sorry you have been struggling with this and I hope it passes soon. It may be the med or it may just be part of your cycle, which is temporary. Hang in there it will pass and hopefully won't impact your studies. Take care

Welcome to the club

Usually it passes after a while unless you're in the midst of an episode. If you're not in an episode, sometimes you just have to wait it out while you see if you can find meds that help reduce the irritability. If you are in an episode, then you'll need to talk to your pdoc as soon as possible and find a solution fast.

Sorry you're going through this, but I can definitely relate. For example, I'm feeling especially pissed off today for no damn reason -- but as the saying goes: "s*** happens."

I tried exercising. It helps a lot with anxiety but when I get like this no amount of physical exhaustion calms it down. I made an appointment with my doc but it's not for two weeks. Maybe I'll call if it doesn't go away. *swear words*
