Traveling sucks. It exacerbates my existing symptoms. In other words, when I'm depressed, I feel more depressed; when I'm hypo/manic, it fuels the hypo/mania.
Does anyone else feel this way? I hate traveling. I have to do so much travel between this month and next month. I've got to buy one of those neck pillows, though. My neck will hurt like hell if I don't, and then I become more irritable! With all the travel I do, I'm honestly surprised I don't even have one. So, I've got to buy a neck pillow at the mall today; else, I have to buy one at Boston-Logan Internat'l airport for like one bajillion dollars, and that ain't my cup of tea, if you get my drift. |

I usually love travelling but recently I flew to Sydney during a mixed episode and it was hell. I needed to take 2-4mg of Clonazepam to get through as I was so panicked. When I'm not in an episode I have no problems. You've said you have travel anxiety before, what hAs helped you in the past? I found distraction and breathing helpful on my recent trip. I wish you all the best.

I love the idea of travelling but actually doing it gives me a tremendous amount of anxiety, which can then add to a mood episode.

I'm sorry traveling stresses you out! I've been feeling nostalgic for traveling and starting to make some plans but I'm broke and it would be super awful for my stability. Good luck with the neck pillow - I always have a coat with me and I've found that it works great if you roll it up, wrap it around your shoulders and hold onto the ends!

Traveling is one of the best things mankind has invented.
Mobility max. All around the globe. Never stopping for long. No moss grows in a rolling stone. PACK UR BAGS!!!. P.S. I have at least 25% Gypsy blood. Or Romani, as we call ourselves now.

I'm leaving for ten days for our honeymoon next week and right now I'm stable. But traveling usually pushes me into hypomania. I think it's the over stimulation of being in a new place and lack of routine that contributes to that. I figure it will be a little harder this time around because we're spending 6 days on the road and stopping at various city in between and 3 days at a out door music festival, the festival alone is very stimulating in and of itself. I'm a little nervous about it to tell you the truth, but I'm not going to let it ruin my fun.

I completely understand how you feel. I recently flew to Las Vegas and whenever I travel I get irritated because of how the pain in my neck is horrible and it turns me into brat. I love to travel more than anything but actually traveling gives me episodes because the places we always go to are always full of people and it just makes me angry. People are always rude and have no consideration for others. Anyway, enough about me...I hope that you find the perfect neck pillow and it improves your travels as much as possible.

Yeah, it sounds like most of you get hypomania and/or anxiety. That's what I'm afraid of. (I'm anxious about being anxious? lol. Time for Ativan!)
I managed to get a neck pillow yesterday. Woohoo! Cost me $40, though... but it's a nice memory foam one that retains its shape. I've also brought a blanket. It's some Scooby Doo fleece from when I was 9, as that's all I could find. lol! But who cares! You can judge me all you want, but I'm the one getting sleep. ![]() |
