I am wondering how many people take antipsychotics, as many do even without having experienced psychosis. Thank you for the answers.
Thanks for this!

I take two APs on a regular basis, plus extra Zyprexa as needed if I start getting manic. I would really like to get down to one, but that doesn't seem to be happening yet even though my psych NP and I are working on it.

I take an antipsychotic because I get psychotic symptoms both in and out of episodes... Although idk how much my psychiatrist believe me, she still asks about and treats my symptoms.

I take two APs and I don't experience psychosis. They help with my anxiety/obsession/mixed episodes.

I attempt the AAPs which are used for mood stabilization.
Trying Latuda now for mixed episode..

I have severe complex PTSD, which is more problematic when it's exacerbated than my experience with BP2. AAPs can help with this as well.

I have been vehemently against used of antipsychotics without psychosis, until I have seen it's sometimes the only way I can have a life, during severe exacerbations.

I take Latuda daily and Olanzapine (Zyprexa) as a PRN for sleep and mixed states. I have not experienced psychosis(well not without street drugs). Would love to be off them completely but my brain goes crazy without them.

Currently taking quetiapine regularly for anxiety and mania/mixed. I've always done better taking AP's on a maintenance schedule. I've only had psychotic symptoms during major manic episodes resulting in a trip to the hospital.

No psychosis but I take the AP for mixed episodes and rapid cycling. I have found it helps with the PTSD and anxiety. I have to take it as a maintenance med though and not as a PRN.

I have experienced some psychosis symptoms and I'm currently on Latuda for this. I've also been on seroquel and abilify but neither were good drug matches for mw

Ive been on an AP for almost 5 years. I still get psychotic about once a week. It helps with sleep but i think thats all it does.
Ive tried others that did nothing. Taking seroquel 200mg and seroquel xr 200mg.

Also on pristiq, adderall, klonopin, narcan.

I've been on several AP's over the years. i have delusional thought patterns and mild hallucinations when in an episode. I'm prescribed Abilify right now, but I had possible seizures the last time I took it, so I'm having trouble taking it consistently for fear of side effects.

I take quetiapine 200 mg. at bedtime and it's a pretty effective monotherapy. It helps overall with bipolar depression and sleeping. But I still get mood related symptoms I have to deal with. Not a magic pill, but it is better than nothing.

That has not happened on Seroquel, although I am on a lower dose, primarily for anxiety at the moment. It is not really helping much with mood stabilization. At least it seems that way to me right now.

However, in the past I was on resperidal and it wasn't the greatest for me. I disappeared for several weeks and when I returned a friend got me to admit myself.

But on Zyprexa and Seroquel I've only really had issues with the dose being too low and can usually adjust before things get out of hand.
