I just saw my pdoc and she gave me abilify to try to stabilize my moods. The dose is incredibly low at 2.5mg.
Has anyone heard of a dose this low? Do you think it will do anything to help? Has anyone had experience with any APs that didn't abuse weight gain? I'm super scared of weight gain even at this dose and indication. ![]() |

I took a super low dose when I was on it. I think I started at 2.5.
I hope it works for me. I've heard it's weight neutral too. I didn't stay on it long. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Last time I took my Abilify consistently, (took it for a few months) I didn't gain weight (that I recall, not sure I can trust my med memory anymore). I took 10mg. I'm really pretty sure I didn't gain weight because I remember really liking the drug until another side effect popped up for me. I've heard people say it caused them weight gain, and others who said it did not. The only way to know if it will do this for you is to try it. At that dose, I have high hopes it will not cause weight gain for you. I currently take Abilify, but I haven't been good about taking it everyday unfortunately. Good luck!

It never made me gain weight. It just f***ed up my vision.
I was on 5mg. My pdoc started me on 5mg because he said 2.5mg is meant for MDD. (I'm not sure how true that is about the dose, but that's what he told me.) |

I'm on 5 mg right now and it's stabilized me big-time (particularly gotten rid of my severe anxiety), and I've lost weight on it. So, it may not cause you any weight-gain. Fingers crossed for you!!!

That's how Latuda was for me. I think I took it around 3-4 years? It's hard for me to remember. I'm almost totally weaned off it now.

I'm on 15mg of Abilify and haven't had any weight gain from it. I hope it's weight neutral for you too and that your dose (or a higher one, if needed) helps stabilize your mood!

Using specific doses of drugs for specific reasons confuses me. It all gets muddy anyway 😕 what happened with your vision?

Saphris is a great AP that is weight neutral. I took ability in the past but couldn't handle the side effects. I have a long history of eating disorders so I'm very conscious about what meds I take.
