Hello! I am new to the site and newly diagnosed. I've know since my early teen's that something was wrong with me. However, only went to the doctor during lows. They would give me antidepressants and I would be very angry, mad, agitated, irritable on them. Worse than I am already. I am paranoid most of the time. Have racing thoughts non-stop. I have OCD with obsessive thoughts. I am highly sensitive to noise. Most noises make me angry. I am looking forward to learning more about people, bipolar, and getting accustom to having a "mental illness". I stopped taking meds in May and went in to a two month depression. I am currently "high" at the moment and have been for a few days. Hopefully, being put back on medication will help me stay stable. Thanks for reading. Sorry its everywhere.. but that's where my brain is right now :/

being treated for depression alone at first can lead to ADs being prescribed which in some cases can lead to mania. happened with me and remeron. keep fiddling with the meds until you find a cocktail that works good for you. and keep in mind the meds are not a cure all, you still have to put in work in therapy and such.

I can relate to this. It's a manic symptom for me. I'm sorry you're struggling with this.

Welcome! I was newly diagnosed a year ago. It's been quite a journey! Like you, I always saw someone during the really bad lows and was on antidepressants for years, and then I started having manic destructive episodes a few times a year. My family and I didn't know what was going on. Come to find out I'm Bipolar and the antidepressants were triggering mania. Ugh. It's been a journey working on the right cocktail of meds and trying to deal with the stigma that people (and I) have over the illness. I see a therapist once a week, and a pdoc once a month. I've been on a range of meds from Lithium, Depakote, and so on. Below in my signature is my current adjusted cocktail, we'll see if this keeps me stable. I wish you much luck! This is a great place!
