I had an accident a week ago (I fell off of a ladder) and tore my calf muscle really badly. I'm pretty much stuck inside as I can't walk except wih crutches, and crutches are difficult because the injury causes so much pain.

It's driving me crazy. I feel trapped and it's making my anxiety and paranoia much worse. I don't know how to cope with this. I'm used to going out and hiking or biking 5-10 kilometers a day or walking around the city. Getting out and doing things helps soothe my mind but now I just feel trapped inside my head with a thousand voices screaming at me and I can't get away from them.

Doctor says it will take 3-4 months for my injury to heal.

Oh I feel so bad for you! I did that about 5 years ago, I tore my soleus muscle down by the ankle and was in two different casts and then an air boot for about 4 months in total. I was miserable.

I never did get used to the crutches and fell on the ice several times just trying to get around. Hated them things. Only tip I got for you is to take it easy, these things take forever to heal and use the scooters at the grocery stores. It make it much easier to go places then trying to hobble around on those **** crutches.

HUGS

Sorry you are hurting! Sending good thoughts for a speedy recovery. I also need to move to calm my mind. I hope you find something that helps. When I'm injured these things help:
Writing
Puzzles
Reading
Breaking plates(seriously I buy like ten from the dollar store)
Crosswords

Sorry to hear that. I hope you heal faster than the 3-4 months.

I love biking too, so I feel you.

Is there a way for you to get outside and move around? Crutches could be a pain, but p00dlez's idea of a scooter is one example of what you could do if you wanna go out and about.

I definitely think you need to get out somehow because i can tell that you're going stir crazy when you're stuck inside. I'm just not good with suggestions, so I'm sorry about that

Crutches suck! I broke my hip recently and thankfully all I need is a cane.

Can you keep yourself busy by playing one of the free online games like Runescape?
Thanks for this!

Thanks for your kind words everyone ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Crutches suck even more because I have a problem with the ulnar nerve in my elbow and I have nerve pain all the time. So putting the weight on it on crutches suuuuucks.

Trying to catch up on tv shows and watch movies. I need to try to get ahold of some books I haven't read. I just hate being inside all the time. It's not good for my mental health.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I had ankle reconstruction surgery 2 years ago and was on bedrest for 6 weeks. I was casted or booted for 4.5 months and it was really hard. During the later part of bedrest I would ride along when my mom did errands even though I had to stay in the car with my foot elevated just to get out of the house.

The internet was my best friend. So were books once I was off pain meds.
