About two years ago I had a year of solid stability. No ups no downs. no lethargy. I worked a job at blue cross blue shield. I just lived life. I was just on lamictal and Risperdal. Then, I had a change of psychiatrists. Mine retired. My new guy was foreign and didn't really know what he was doing. He said, "winter is coming, ya know" "and people get really depressed in winter." I told him I was stable. He eventually convinced me to get on Cymbalta and after a month I was in the psych hospital, again. Mania this time. I've never been stable since. Me and antidepressants don't work well. Me and lithium don't work well. I don't respond. Benzos make me depressed. So I'm currently on stage 3 of weaning off remeron, my antidepressant and my new pdoc wants me just on rexulti and lamictal. We are also tapering benzos, titrating up lamictal, and I'll just have to go through the hell of depression to get to the stability. My bipolar is just that way. Everyone's bipolar is different, just like everyone's depression is different and has a different cause. So I hope and pray this works. I'll give it a good solid year.

Hi bp, thinking of you. Your new pdoc's statement that winter is coming is interesting. I've read that most of us are more subject to depressive episodes in the Spring and Summer. But everyone's bipolar disorder varies, as you said. Words of optimism from him would have been nice!

I commiserate with you...I dread the day my pdoc retires.

That's awesome you had such a long period of stability! I think that's likely indicative to happen again, given time.

PS: Lamictal is extremely effective for a lot of us...I hope the same for you again.

Summers are worst for me! I am extremely happy in fall and winter and start of spring.

I don't like the fact that a pdoc would change just for the sake of change. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through Hell for this. I do hope you stabilize out soon.

HUGS!!! I can understand how you feel. It's so nice when you can have that stability, and so frustrating when it is gone.
