I was taking Lamictal but I got the Lamictal rash after being on it forever. They were upping my dosage though. Anyway, the pdoc replaced it with Geodon 160mg. He told me I had to take it with a meal the problem is I don't remember to take it then, it's usually a couple of hours later when I used to take my other meds. I have found it is important to take with a full meal but can I eat something light when I remember or is it still defeating the purpose? Also, if anyone knows the time frame in which you can take it after a meal would be great. Thanks

Hey, vj! Good to see you!
I've not been on Geodon, so I can't answer that, but I've always had a lot of trouble taking meds at proper times. The only thing that finally worked was setting phone alarms. Even then, it didn't go so well(!) But it was because the times weren't a good choice. Changed it up fairly recently, and it's working great. Do you eat at a fairly consistant time? That'd be one way to approach it.

Good to see you too Innerzone No I don't eat at a consistent time at all. Just whenever I feel hungry. Everything is kinda out of whack right now, honestly I think I'm in a mixed episode. I'm just kinda living by the moment right now, whatever suits my whims. The geodon is suppose to be taken with a full meal so the body absorbs all of the medicine. I'll eat something light when I remember that I need to take it but by what I read that is not enough. I did read something about peanut butter though. I believe I will at least try what wiretwister said when I do forget, probably along with a snack.

I've never really done the whole counting calories thing but 500 calories don't seem like to much. My pdoc told me to take mine at dinnertime. I just keep forgetting and I already struggle with my weight so I REALLY don't want to eat a lot especially so close to bedtime.

Generous Peanut butter sandwich and a large glass of milk would do it.
or a 1/4 cup of peanut butter that is 4 tablespoons.
Start looking at packaged foods there will be labeling of calories and serving size.
I take mine twice a day. It is only good for 12 hours.
It doesn't make me sleepy.

? My pdoc prescribed it once a day, now I'm worried that if it is even beneficial for me to be taking it.

Call the pharmacy and speak with them, they can look up normal dosing...
sorry to worry you.
You could google it too.
Call your pdocs office and talk to the nurse.
Ask about dosages....What is your dose?

Bizi is correct. You need 500 calories. I take mine at night with 500 calories.
Thanks for this!

You may want to ask if it is better to take the geodon in divided doses. 80 twice a day.
