Is anyone plagued by intrusive thoughts of hatred for people in our past? I just read a good research article about how child abuse can result in major brain changes. I feel like these hate thoughts come from that, but the people I keep "hating at" in my mind are not all from my childhood. One is my sister, though, whom I totally cut out of my life a couple of months ago. I am extremely angry about her. She is very unrealistic, blames me for stuff that's her responsibility, accuses me of doing/saying things I didn/t do/say, and denies saying things that she did say. She claims we can "work out" our communication, but will not take any significant action to do so. I finally got proof that I'm not imagining these things from her, because we emailed lot in recent months, and her comments were right there on the emails!!! Gotcha, you ******.

I'm bothered by intrusive thoughts of hatred for my parents. It's more like contempt. They're both dead so it doesn't do any good to have these thoughts. TRIGGER WARNING: They threw my brother out and he commited suicide. I blame them. I've read that forgiveness is liberating, but he did die. How can i forgive that?

My intrusive thoughts aren't about others. I forgive to easily. I'm glad you got proof though dealing with siblings can be rough.

From my experience, intrusive thoughts are things that I don't really mean to think. It sounds like you have real REASONS to feel anger/hate. Are you seeing a therapist to work through these feelings?

I'm being plagued by intrusive thoughts of hatred for people not in the pest but presently. My family is a mess and my friends are egoistic bunch. I've become indifferent towards them now. But my past with them still hunts me. Some hatred and intrusive thoughts can never go away because it ruined your life. It become scars of our memory.

My intrusive thoughts are more about hatred of myself for things that have gone wrong in my life. It's all my fault that I am the way I am. Like MiguelsMom said, I also tend to forgive people too easily. Heck, a guy I sort of dated when I was in high school, who basically forced me to have sex with him is someone I still keep in communication with (thanks to Facebook).

I've had hateful thoughts about people who did me dirty. I have enjoyed fantasizing about how I want to get back at them. I let my mind fun as wild as I want to. Then, eventually, I stopped thinking of them nearly altogether. Honestly, I think it's healthy.

Forgiveness: Letting go of grudges and bitterness - Mayo Clinic
Here is an article from the Mayo Clinic on why forgiveness is important for your own mental health. Forgiveness is not forgetting nor not holding those responsible for the consequences but it is letting go of resentments and anger.
