Hi! It's been a while since I've posted here. My previous pdoc no longer believed I'm bipolar after diagnosing me with BPD (she doesn't believe they're co-morbid for some reason..) but I certainly see a big difference now compared to before I was on Lamictal. I no longer get hypomanic. I no longer have drawn out periods of depression. I'm constantly switching moods (the BPD part) but there is no longer a distinct pattern. I no longer stay up for long periods of time without needing the sleep either. With that in mind, regardless of my pdoc's opinion, I feel those parts of my struggle have been stabilized! Now I need to work on the BPD, which I'm currently in DBT for.
My only fear is the possibility of Lamictal's effects wearing off eventually. I must say I do miss hypomania, as I typically experienced the euphoric type...but I'm aware it was a huge strain on my body and I'm glad to be without. It just pains me a bit to realize that much of the motivation I've had for the past 8 years were a result of my abnormally elevated moods. I also need to get a new pdoc since I recently moved, or I'm going to run out of Lamictal and that would be awful. Things are tricky because my insurance has run out, so this will be pricey on top of the costs for my therapy which is also being paid out of pocket (she does sliding scale, at least). Other than some financial concerns, I'm feeling a lot more hopeful. ![]() I hope everyone else has been doing well. ![]() |

Thanks for your post - glad things are leveling out for you! I love Lamictal, and while I'm still not mania/insomnia free, it's turned the volume down on it quite a bit! I also love DBT - I tend to gush about it, but it was so helpful for me once I got the meds bit out of the way so I could focus - know this may not be everyone's experience.
It's great to read the positivity in your post. Glad you have some "breathing room" , sounds like you're ready to start a new era. As far as the meds, have you already signed up for the Psych Central med card? I used it at my pharmacy, and did get a bit off of my prescription. While the meds still pricey, even a bit helped. If you don't mind my offering, are you familiar with Needy Meds? When i was without insurance/job, I did use them to get some prescriptions free. Sometimes the docs can sustain you with samples - I was able to get by for significant time with these. Anywhoo, take care |

If you need to get lamictal pretty cheaply it is $30 for a 90 day supply at Rx Outreach | Patient Assistance Program, Discount Prescription Drugs
Prescription Prices, Coupons & Pharmacy Information - GoodRx also helps find what the cheapest price is/gives coupons. Good to see you here. I'm glad the BP is under control and hope the BPD will be soon.
