So those of you with wife, kids, long term partners, whatever. Life can be hectic and restricting when you are living with a crowd. What do I do when they leave me alone for whatever reason... ? I'm pretty sure I go manic. My wife surprised me once by coming home early from a trip.. and she was a bit shocked at the mess (I'm a good boy when she is home). Projects all over the place. Piled up dishes. Drawings, sketches of new ideas. Beer bottles all over. A wreck. And I was wearing my kilt. I only wear a kilt when I'm by myself doing my thing. Why? because I love me a kilt. I'm lucky I was wearing my kilt because otherwise I would be wearing nothing.
What am I doing now and only 6 hours since she took off to visit family that I just can't? I'm wearing my kilt. And messes are starting. But damn I'm making some cool stuff while watching 'Marguerite'... (I hope I'm not like her). I'm in the zone and feeling it. It won't last.. because I will take it too far and do something stupid. But right now is when I sing... |

It's not that I don't enjoy my family being home. It's just that I let myself do what my body really wants to do.. when they are gone. I crave madness I think.

I have the house to myself for the first time in a week or so. Like you, I do feel I immediately go into a different mode. I first make little changes, that others do not like such as closing blinds and shades in the daytime, and adjusting the thermostat to my tastes, eating whatever I want out of the fridge while holding the door open. My creativity, usually increases as does my energy level and libido. Interesting to think that just having privacy all of the sudden changes us that quickly.

I like my alone time, too - I work from home, so I get space every day once my husband goes to work and the kids are in school. I'm working, though, so I can't go hog wild. I can't remember the last time I was home alone and wasn't working. Even though I don't get to totally let go, I do feel better getting the peace and quiet of the house and living on my own schedule for those hours each weekday.
I'm mainly chiming in to suggest you consider wearing the kilt when your wife is home, as well. My husband has a kilt...well, 2 actually. A dress kilt (which he doesn't wear often), and a utili-kilt. He wears the utili-kilt when he's home and working on projects. He loves it. If you love to be in it, why not wear it whenever you want? ![]() |

I must be in the minority here because I hate being alone. My husban just took the kids for a short walk and I instantly started to panic.

I love being home alone. Unfortunately, it's almost never the case.
And regarding the kilt, it probably depends on what's underneath to determine a family-friendly scenario.
