My hypo turned to mania and I just emailed my pdoc for Lithium. I added Saphris (wow, that shhht really does taste bad) to Geodon 2 nights ago. I hated Lithium bc it made me mood neutral and maybe depressed, but I am cuhrazy and not sleeping, and super judgmental, and very talkative. Plus Lithium made me fat and gave me bad hair, skin and nails.

I feel like an utter failure. I quit smoking cold turkey 3 weeks ago and I feel like it's really not helping. Maybe even hurting.

What a freaking mess.

I'm glad that you are addressing the mania with meds, sorry that they caused those bad side effects before. Sometimes we suffer those for the sake of our mental health. I wish you luck with bringing your mood down!

You said YOU added saphris. Is your pdoc aware? Saphris is for mania and it's always done a good job stabilizing me. I'm on geodon now

Hi Dontspeak,

I am sorry you are going through this.

Lithium is on my list if/when other meds don't work.
I know it can be unpleasant and a hassle.

Would it take longer for Saphris to work, possibly?

I deal with BP-2, my mood stabilizer is Depakote, as it is one of the few meds I can tolerate.

I hope you mood evens out and you are more comfortable soon!

In my experience every time I have gone into the manic state I have had to use depakote and seroquel together to bring it back down..it's like putting ABS brakes on the manic. for me it worked in less than 2 days. then of course I had to deal with the crash into depression that always happens to me. do you have the blackcherry flavored saphris? you get used to it after a while. I was prescribed saphris instead of the seroquel at a later time. my last big episode was in 2013. I have not ever taken lithium though. only lamictal and depakote for mood stabilizing.
