I still lurk, but I'm here almost every day. I'm agorophobic so this is also on of my lines out even tho I don't post much. I wish I felt I could open up more, and maybe in time I will, but I really enjoy reading here. Especially when I'm anxious. Which is often. Lol.

I have this weird thing where i don't really care what people think of me in general, but I still don't want to come off sounding stupid when i post here. The past few years have been rough on my brain and I'm just now getting back some of my creativity and ability for writing and photography. But like i said before, I'm trying to open up and become part of this wonderful community.

I found this forum made a difference to me the first time I started reading it. Being able to know it is not just me, and being able to have some contact with others who understand in a comfortable setting means a lot.

Although I haven't been around here for very long, this forum has made a difference in my ability to cope. I don't do group therapy, so to me, this is an anonymous and even more effective way for me to connect to others with BP, get feedback, and the support that I can definitely use. It gives me encouragement and an outlet where I feel safe sharing. In real life, I do not share these things, aside from weekly therapy or with my pdoc....but therapy is getting too expensive, so I won't get to go as often anymore. Thank you all for making this such a supportive place.

I agree with NoIdeaWhatToDo's comment that there are some wise people on this forum. There are things that I've read that have really helped me.
I also like the anonymity because I occassionally write things that I am later embarrassed about.

Has this forum directly impacted your life in any way? I'm just curious. It's okay to say no.

As for me, personally, some of the personal experiences in here have led me to make good decisions. For example, I had a crappy pdoc, but I never actually realized it until I saw how much better everyone else's pdocs were. It led me to cut ties with the jackass and find a new one who cares more about my mental health and not so much about what's in my wallet.

It's also good to have a support system where I can vent my frustrations, even if nobody will read them. Just the act of typing things out really helps me feel better. (Before this forum, I had no place to vent and I was bottling up everything inside.)
It helps with feeling lonely and gives me something to do from bed or wherever...It helps to know others understand or can somewhat relate to how I feel.

I feel like people really don't understand it, unless they have some kind of issue..Don't really know anyone in "real" life that understands me...Except my doc lol

Are you guys seriously having a fb time? I don't know anyone else on my fb list who has BP.

I doubt you'd blind anyone!

Ever seen The Office episode like that?

I had been envisioning your fb party as a crazy ranting feed with people from all over posting manic, posting depressed, swapping meds, telling stories, some manic, some depressed, some stable.....now THAT would be fun.

So in the spirit of getting that party started, where do I sign up? PM me if you must. Or not, and I'll go depressed thinking you don't want me anywhere near the party. But really, I can be civil at times.

Send me a PM and we can chat about FB

Sounds more serious than I thought, so I think we can safely delete the above satirical post.

Blue, I think you've made some pretty solid friends, at least from what I can see. And FB is about as real as you can get without meeting at Starbucks IRL.

Like you, I consider this place to be family, a truly safe place where I can be my real self and talk about real issues. My MI is basically a taboo subject with my immediate and extended families, they'd rather pretend it doesn't exist and dance around it with words, then because I'm seeing a doctor they think I should be able to act as a "normie" in every other area of my life. It's not fun to be married to someone who won't even pick up and read a single book on BP, yet thinks she knows how to handle a spouse who has the disease.

We've been dealing with this through most of our 13 years of marriage, and I feel so belittled and treated like a child. You can't even imagine.

You guys are true friends, and I think the anonymity facilitates that aspect. Thanks for being here.

It gives me something to read that does impact me in IRL and it gives me an outlet for the few times to post. I read many posts but for some reason ever since I rarely post ever since I started taking Lamictal.

This place is a great support for me, especially because i don't feel i can talk about my current project [dieting / lifestyle change] with anyone IRL as people are not always supportive IRL. I also enjoy giving support where i can. I like writing better than talking and i like computing so it's a great medium for me. It's so convenient too -- i don't have to leave home and i can pop in several times a day and see what's new. I really like online forums.

It's a safe haven in here where you won't be judged. Out there, I'm just another looney on the grass.
