I've been on seroquel for insomnia for about ten years now. Right now I'm on my highest dose 300mg. Back in the days on 50-100mgs I had no problems with weight and was 97lbs. My pdocs couldn't believe I was on it for so long and stayed so skinny. Well check my records doc, I have an ED. Well lately my eating disorder has been in check and I watch what I eat. A lot of protein shakes and bars. Healthy cereal and soy milk. But thanks to seroquel I've grown a pouch. In my eyes (I also have BDD) I look pregnant. I hate being in the shower cuz my stomach just sticks out! And when it comes to sex... My bf has to struggle to make me take my shirt off lol (sorry TMI, I'm an open book).

Has anyone been able to maintain or lose weight on this drug? I know I probably need the extra pounds and I just got out of IP where meal time was my highlight of the day lol. So I'm struggling trying to lose the weight I've gained in there.

It depends on what you weigh. One thing-looking down always makes the pooch look bigger.

Have you discussed your ED with the Pdoc or is he just for meds?

If you are a healthy BMI, then I would worry more about the BDD and how one maintains health while working with that. You already know your BDD is affecting how you see yourself. You say you are eating protein bars and shakes and cereals and soy milk. Do you see a nutritionist about your diet?

Do you do any weight training or other core building exercises? Maybe that could trim your abs while maintaining a healthy weight. You would see the result of your work building muscle and trimming your tum and maybe help you deal with the BDD.

I know that EDs are difficult to deal with. It sounds like you should go back to the specialist who helped you with your ED and BDD.

I've been walking almost every day. I used to weight train but I admit I've gotten lazy, and soft. I just started with a new T so I'll probably be talking about my ED in there. The last pdoc that tried to give me something for my ED, gave me a stimulant (I was binging and purging at the time) and I got addicted to it. It was a disaster. I really don't know if my new pdoc knows. It's something I don't like to talk about and I have a hard time being honest about it really. I'm ashamed of it I think. I'm 5'4" and 106 after leaving IP. So I'm on the border of being underweight. But all my weight has been collecting around my gut since going to 300mg seroquel.

I have a big Seroquel belly. Before i let my hair go gray people asked me if i was seven months pregnant! How ignorant. But Seroquel makes me sleep so well, even if it does give me crazy dreams. You sound like you're very thin at 106. I also think you should work on your issues in therapy rather than dieting. I weigh TWICE what you do and we're the same height. But i'm 50. I'd LOVE to weigh 106 pounds!

I am not sure why I'm actually at my thinnest adult weight now (and I've never been heavy), and I'm on Seroquel. Prior to being on Seroquel and Lamictal, I was at my highest adult weight. I do get occasional cravings at night for salty or sugary foods. I'm on the same dose as you. Sometimes I'll go for a healthier snack instead, or I will have something salty/sweet, but portion it, then I'll go upstairs and go to sleep. During the day, I haven't experienced any food cravings though. I did notice my appetite went up slightly when I titrated up on Seroquel. Lamictal might be keeping me from gaining weight....maybe it cancels out the weight side effect of the Seroquel? It seems that way.

I am on 6-800mg per night to try to hold off the manic episode that I have been fighting with. I have not gained any weight, but running around downtown going to bars and drinking water doesn't hurt in the WG category, I mean literally running. Body image is a funny thing. I weigh 155 and am 5'10". My docs all say I am fine, but I still have the love handles i gained while on risperidal. I hate them, no matter how hard I try to loose them they just won't go away. At least I lost the 40# I gained while on the risperdal. My thoughts are that you cut yourself a little slack. You are making some major life changes right now, it will take time to check off all of your todo list items.

I look pregnant now too. I first started seroquel 18 months ago. 10 months ago I started taking 50mg 5x/day for my anxiety. It helps SO much. I notice a huge difference when I don't take it. But I seriously look 4 or 5 months pregnant if I don't suck my belly in. I walk every day, often for an hour. I've been off sugar for a few months of this year. Right now I'm off sugar and yeast, and I've been off gluten ever since I started the seroquel, but my belly still looks like this. I hadn't realized that maybe it was a seroquel thing.

I gained weight on Seroquel, plus it made me eat like a horse. So I was glad to get off it, but I still haven't lost the weight yet.

I have a love hate relationship with seroquel too.

It made me get a little pouch too. I swear it changed my body figure because I've been off it for awhile and still have it, even if after I lost twenty pounds.

Yes it's like my figure is changing! Maybe it's age. Maybe it's laziness but i gained 8lbs and it's all on my gut
