I must say that between knowing the reasons for our user names and the pictures we shared of ourselves, I feel like I know many of you much better.

My name stands for the phrase "A Pill For Every Ill." I just think it's a catchy saying. I'm not that into meds.

I got mine from a Portishead song 'Wandering Star' which quotes a bible verse 'wandering star, for whom is reserved, the blackness of darkness forever'.

My screen name is pretty self-evident. I'm bipolar, I'm an RN, and I (used to) work as a nurse.

I came up with my name because I don't believe I'll ever be 100% and I'm always a workin progress and always room for improvement.

i'm tired of life's ups and downs, or "shattered", as they sometimes use in the UK

sanity comes from me just unable to cope with the basic daily tasks of life
put it together, "shattered sanity". someone who is tired of not only life, but of spinning her wheel just for things to get a little worse each day

and miss laura, really?. that name is so.... you know, unoriginal!. but i suppose i'm 1 to talk- i was going to be lady emily (lady being from the fact that i love downton abby, and um, well i'm a lady lol) and emily being my name

i also thought about using atlantis at 1 point because of it's reffrence to my life, but stuck with this

I am fascinated with dogs, wolves, coyotes, etc.
In this area, we can often hear wild coyotes at night.
I had a wild coyote cross my path on the day I had registered here as a member.

I can be a very confrontational person and tend to have no respect for people who won't confront me right back.

From the Muppet Wiki:

Quote:
Lefty is a shady-looking salesman in a trench coat who appears on Sesame Street. He speaks in a whispery voice, and usually tries to sell Ernie such esoteric items as a letter O, a snowman, or an invisible ice cream cone. His sales pitches are rarely successful.

Lefty had his own "sneaky" musical theme at the beginning of most of his sketches. The Salesman signals to Ernie with a furtive whisper: "Hey, bud! C'mere." Ernie shouts, "Who, me?" and the Salesman shushes him excitedly. Ernie whispers, "Who, me?" The Salesman answers with an elongated "Riiiiiight," and then begins his sales pitch: "How would ya like to buy..."

I like cooler weather, including a real good snowy winter, and, also, I am entering the winter of my life...so strange to see the road rolling near endlessly out behind, still not seeing what is just over "that" hill, or around "that" corner but knowing there are things that I no longer have time for...letting go, but snowshoeing in the wild woods...

Icare is a declension of Icarus in the vocative case in Latin. It's also a combination of I and care.

Dixit is a conjugation of dicere in the third person singular perfect/past. Dixit means "he/she said".

Icarus is the name of the boy that flew too close to the sun, melting his wings made of wax and feathers that his father had created, from Greek mythology.

Ovid, a Roman poet, wrote a version of the story where, before falling into the sea, Icarus' father calls out his name.

Just Icare was already taken. You may call me Icare, without the dixit.

It's a lyric from one of my favorite Emilie Autumn songs. At the time I was going through a really bad manic phase and when I'm manic I fixate (dunno why) on Emilie Autumn songs.

My username used to be Tea Biscuit. I wanted something Canadian, and Tea Biscuits are a baked good that I grew up with and love. I think Americans would just call them a baking powder biscuit, sort of similar to a scone, maybe.

However, people seemed to think I was going for something English, like tea and biscuits(cookies) or it was a play on the race horse Sea Biscuit.

I was too lazy to choose another username and I didn't want to pretend to be someone else, so I just swapped the first letters of each word, and that's it.

In grad school I worked with the taxonomy of tropical freshwater bryozoans (mossanimals). Some of the happiest days of my life..even though I dropped the whole thing like cold turkey to do a million other unrelated things.

Y'alls name are so ingenious, incredible, thought-provoking and cool! I have a million things to look up now!

Mine is tame but meaningful: the names of my kids.

I first came up with that name when I was getting sober to remind me that I had a wonderful responsibility for my children. I grew up with an alcoholic mom and vowed I would never put my own kids through that hell.

I'm proud to say I've been pretty successful!
