I'm on the Invega shot which increased my prolactin levels. Haven't had a period in over a year. And I produce milk. Anyone else with this problem... Sorry guys...TMI for you I'm sure.

I don't have the same problem, yet could have this side-effect at some point in my life.

Thanks for raising awareness.
I admire your courage to be candid. We all benefit.

I am sorry you are experiencing this side-effect.
Is there a way to counteract this w/o changing your med?

No. Invega has been the only thing that has managed to keep my mania at bay. And I went through A LOT of Meds first.

Yes! I'm getting bloodwork tomorrow to confirm but I haven't had my period since February and I also produce milk. I looked it up though and it doesn't seem to have serious long term effects, except I can't get pregnant, which is fine with me because I'm not even sexually active right now and I don't want another kid like, ever. The worst part is the incessant weight gain. Which only COULD be the prolactin. But Invega works so well for me I'm not willing to go off of it. It took me two years to find it and I haven't had a manic/mixed episode in the two years I've been on it. Doesn't do **** for depression but at least it takes care of one end of the pole.

Invega is the refined version of Risperdal .

On Risperdal I lactated. Milk wasn't the problem , breast pain was horrible.

Risperdal caused my prolactin levels to be in the breast feeding range. The lactation I experienced was really uncomfortable and embarrassing. Fortunately, I was able to come off of Risperdal because I was already on Seroquel and was using Risperdal as a secondary AP during a difficult time.

I am sorry that Invega is the only med of many tried that works for your mania. Since you don't have other options, you just have to put up with the elevated prolactin levels and the effects. How frustrating!
