So I finally got my pdoc to agree to this med. I already have way more energy and motivation after a couple days. Do these side effects wear off? Does it keep getting better and better?
Let me have a miracle drug good lawd!

Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand

Woohoo! I started wellbutrin about 7 weeks ago and I love it. Pulled me out of a 10 month depression and I'm more active and energetic than i have been in a long while.

I'm glad it's working for you so far. Be aware though, those good feelings could morph into mania. With me, it made me not only manic but angry, hostile manic. I had all this energy and I was constantly pissed off. I flew into a rage at any or no provocation. I had to come off of it because I was going around throwing things, slamming doors, cursing loudly etc. and it's just not a good idea to be doing those things when one is at work. At home I was even worse, screaming at my husband and kids for hours on end for absolutely NO reason.

I hope that Wellbutrin continues to give you good results. Like anything else, it can be good or bad depending on your individual brain chemistry. Good luck.

I've been on it for over a year and love it...no crazy side effects once I was switched from the XL formulation to the SR formulation

Wellbutrin XL is the only drug that can pull me out of bed when I'm depressed. I was literally sleeping about 14 hours a day with zero energy until I started that drug! (after tring a few other ones first.) Energy and motivation, yes. And I don't think it ever "wore off" for me, I just got used to having lots of energy-- until I stopped taking it, and holy **** did I get tired and lethargic and achy and a whole bunch of other symptoms that I had before.
It does make me a little more irritable and short-tempered though, because it acts on the same neurotransmitters that affect anger and hostility. Combined with the right dose of Zoloft though, I am pretty mellow. The only thing about SSRI's that I don't like, is that they generally mellow me out too much, to the point where I don't feel anything. I lose my creativity, my edge. But every time I have *stopped* taking an SSRI, I've flown into a hypomania, which is typically the opposite of most people with bipolar. I also LOSE weight on SSRI's, whereas most people gain. So basically... YMMV.
Good luck on the Wellbutrin! Hope it continues to work for you.

I was on wellbuterin for years up until recently. I never got blessed with the extra energy. I had to come off of it recently because my anxiety was getting really intense and frequent and my pdoc took me off because it can contribute to anxiety. I'm glad it is working so well for you. I hope it continues to work so well.

Thx guys!!
Mixed reviews like every med I guess. I'm just happy to find one that actually gives me energy instead of taking it away. I hope it lasts !

Glad that it works for you. It helped my depression, but ramped up my anxiety. I'm not taking it now.

The anger came on gradually. At first, WB catapulted me out of the depression and gave me lots of energy. But as the weeks went by, I became more agitated and hostile. I couldn't figure out why. Then one day I was chatting with a co-worker who had the same reaction, and the light bulb came on. I went off of it on my own (stupid idea) and promptly became a weepy hot mess. So I went back on, and the same thing happened. That was when I asked my PCP for another anti-depressant (WB was my third one) and got sent to a psychiatrist instead.
