Actually weaning off of it. Being replaced with pristiq. It was hit or miss with me some days I'd be good to go. I'd say about 60-75% I was still moderately depressed. It worked but little. But then again it was me and all Meds have unique effect on different people.

The Skeezyks was on Cymbalta followed by it's generic (when it became available) for a year or two (memory fails me.) It was the best antidepressant, for me, that I tried. I had virtually no side effects although I was on the maximum recommended dosage. I wouldn't say I didn't still have my good days & bad days. But it seemed like it kept me from sinking too low. That's more than I could say about any of the others I had tried previously.

I finally went off it when I changed health insurance plans & the out-of-pocket cost skyrocketed! When I decided to quit it, I went in to see my pdoc to get his recommendations regarding a tapering schedule. He just told me to taper off of it over the course of 2 weeks. I thought that was very fast. But since that was his recommendation, I went with it & had no significant problems.

I agree I was a lot lower before cymbalta. It kept me from reaching that low but didn't get me neutral or satisfied.

Thank you all! I have been thru a gazillion meds and this time of year I get very low. Tapering off generic Luvox and switching to generic Cymbalta hoping it will help with bipolar depression and anxiety.

It helps me a lot but that's partly because it's good for pain as well and pain contributes to my depression.

I was put on Cymbalta 7 weeks ago as I was in a deep depression and Latuda, Lamotrigine and Prozac hadn't helped. Nothing happened after the first week so my dose was increased. By the end of the second week I was more exhausted and achy all over BUT my ability to think and concentrate had improved. Still no improvement in mood though. My dose was increased again and within days I was waking up with a rapid heart rate so my pdoc said to drop it back to 60mg a day.

After four weeks I was despairing that it wasn't working and hospitalisation was being considered due to my very low mood and SI. However after week five I started to feel better. My mood began to lift and the exhaustion wasn't so bad. Now my mood is stable. The depression is gone. I am still tired but I do have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so I think that is why. While waiting for it to work I searched the net and found out that many people said the real anti-depressant effect only kicked in after a month or more. Also other AD's have pushed me into hypomania or mixed states but Cymbalta has not effected me this way at all.

I wish you all the best.

I was on Cymbalta and had to be taken off of it because it incited mania and made it worse.

I was on Cymbalta once. It made me sweat profusely and caused migraines. I ended up going off it pretty quick.
