BP makes me not care much about hygiene or clothes. Most of the time I'm a zombie from night meds and just go out in sweats. I can't even tell you the last time I wore jeans! I also wear my hair up all the time because it's long and really thick and it bothers me when it's down. I always get a big trim every few months. Sometimes I'm so lazy I just want to shave my head so I don't have to deal with it lol. I have a closet full of nice clothes that only get used for special occasions like Christmas. But I probably own more sweats and t shirts!

You are NOT alone. I've gone days without a shower, no makeup, greasy hair in a bun, a million dishes in the sink, oh, and I just shaved last night, but it's been like 2 months. The hair on my legs was so long that it was actually soft! Lol

Know you are definitely not alone!

I dress like crap too, although I incorporate jeans into my daily outfit more often, maybe once a week. Half the time I don't even get out of my jammies though. I never brush my hair. At least I still shower though.

Lmao don't get me started on my legs! Actually I was filling out papers for SSI and they asked if I keep up with shaving. I had to laugh at that one. I do keep up my arm pits and uh other places just cuz the pricklies itch. But my legs? I go a good month. My bf hates it lol

I shave about twice a year on average the past few years. It's gotten to the point that I resent all the grooming that is thrust upon society.
Thanks for this!

I mostly dress like crap too. Half because I don't want to put forth the effort, half because I can't afford decent clothes. I wear my hair up probably 360 days of the year. Too much work to mess with it. I mostly keep up on shaving though. I don't ever wear makeup.

I dress outrageous. In a way, it's my shield. People think somebody with so much green and purple eyeshadow on and flowy ankle lenght skirt and fuschia leopart print t-shirt must be really confident.

Aren't updos... ever so much more sofisticated? I wear my hair up when I need to look serious and preppy.

I've always pictured that you'd dress like that. It's a good thing. You get to know ppl on this forum and imagine what they'd look like ya know? And then you posted a pic awhile back and it was just as I imagined. I used to dress like that before I was dx'ed. I envy you lol.
Thanks for this!

Mine is not fancy or intricate. I have long hair but it's thin and curly....I wrap a scrunchie around it a few times in a top notch. Takes about 30 seconds. My hair is curly so I never brush it. It's a very easy low maintenance style. If I'm going out I straighten my fringe which takes less than 5 minutes. I like my hair out of my face but feel it's easier to manage my hair as is than if I cut it short. And haircuts mean hairdressers and I don't like going....only about once a year, if that.

I feel you. While I like to look nice somedays the effort that goes into it kills me.

I have my wardrobe (mostly black) split into three parts, work clothes, nice casual wear/going out clothes and then my fave part - sweats/active wear/pyjama pants, I would live in sweats and pyjama pants if I could. I also have thick long hair, which I wear up in a messy bun or pony tail 90% of the time cause I also can not stand it touching my face/neck/shoulders/back especially on a day I don't feel very well it makes my skin crawl, on a few of my really bad eps I have taken scissors to it myself and cut it off, always has ended badly and if it didn't look so bad shorter or shaved I would cut it all off permanently too.

Try a simple braided bun (just put in in ponytail in whatever place you want, braid it, wrap around and secure with pins). It looks great and it is amazingly durable (and my hair when down has life of its own).

You say sweats like its a bad thing .... Lmao !

I do yoga pants myself. When my hair was long it was up in a clip any time I am home. I un clipped it " usually" as I walked out the door as it had great waves from being up.

Fall is here no shaving for months !!!!!! Well underarms are a must!

The one thing that I do without fail is put on at least a bit of makeup as it just makes ME feel better. Recently decided I love Matte lipstick lol

Don't beat yourself up ❤️

Yesh! I buy yoga pants/leggings in bulk haha and also wear make up most days, even if it is just mascara and lipstick. Small things can make a big difference.
Thanks for this!

I wear jeans and t-shirts. I have a few sweaters for winter but I don't wear them much because I get too hot. I also have nice casual shoes but end up in athletic shoes for running around. I used to have work clothes but I got too fat for them.

For me I'm very girly I always have been. I hide behind a mask on my bad days if I have to be out in public. Even when I'm kind of symptomatic I'm still put together. My girls will want to go to one of our local malls. I'll put my "mask" on and go if my not mixed or mad manic. I like clothes, jewelry and makeup. People see me looking put together but have know idea how I'm feeling on the inside. In the summer if I'm down a little it usually will pep my mood up a little if I get jazzed up and leave the house....go do something fun.

When I'm home I'm in basketball shorts or yoga pants. When I go out its capris. I need new winter clothes bc I've lost 30 lbs since last winter. But in the winter it's jeans or stretch pants...

I don't know. When I started meds at 18, they made me a zombie. I lost my "flare" and was too tired to make an effort. I look at my old pics of me with pink, red, purple hair and see how free I was. I was a teen growing into something awesome but then I got sick with depression and here I am years later with the "I'm too tired to care" attitude.

Oh and yes, thank god for yoga pants. I love black ones because you can pull them off as dress pants if they're in good shape lol.
Thanks for this!

That's normal....it happened to me with the first cocktail I was on after I was first dx. I'm sorry your going through that. It killed me inside looking at old pics when I had a bad ***** body and was not depressed or mad as hell bc I was fat now. Be strong and take care

Wow! I am so glad to be reading that there are other people out there who have not showered, well lets just say as often as they should. If I am in a manic state, I do not even think about showering. My husband eventually gets tired of me telling him that "I'll just get a shower tomorrow, ok?"He will literally carry me to the bathroom, take my clothes off and put me in the shower. I figure if I'm in there I might as well just shower and get it over with. This way I will not have to worry about him nagging for at least another 3 days. My manic lows are pretty bad!
