I have such a hard time with procrastination because of my anxiety and temper. I literally had ONE day to come up with...a lot... of money to save my house from foreclosure. My phone would ring, I'd press ignore. And the mail man actually had to come to my door to tell me my mail box was filling up. How embarrassing. I just always seem to break down when I finally see how crappy things are around here. I'll panic, hyperventilating, shaking. I go into a whole episode and have to fish out a few of my PRNs. My T is aware and we said we are going to work on this. But truth is I don't even want to talk about that. I want to put my head in the sand about putting my head in the sand lol. I fear confrontation and bad news so badly and it leads to this. I almost lost everything. My home! And yet I ignored all signs until literally the last day. Am I alone here? Do I really have to take a benzo just to make a phone call now?! Cuz that's pretty much how it goes.

My mailbox fills up too. I procrastinate about procrastinating too. Don't know the solution to this one I'm afraid. Nike says "just do it" and people are motivated by putting on tennis shoes. I don't get it but whatever works right?
Thanks for this!

I procrastinate too. What helps me is I say no matter what I'm doing a, b, c, tomorrow. I force myself to do it. Maybe Try that?

Yeah, there are some things I don't want to talk to my therapist about either. They're not bad things; they're things like this. So I can definitely relate. It's just a lack of comfort on my part. I don't want to confront things that I know will/do bother me.

Yes, that's a very good idea. I do this too! Then I reward myself for doing a good job.

Boy do I relate to this. It's something I've been working with my therapist on. One step at a time.

I do it NOW. I don't procrastinate because it gives me anxiety to procrastinate. It's much more peaceful to get it over with. If i do things as they come up they aren't so overwhelming. I had to learn this the hard way. It didn't come natural. I used to be a terrible procrastinater but I hated the results. So I changed myself. If i can do it you can do it.
Thanks for this!

I am so with you! Most of my medical bills are in collections, not because I can't pay, but because opening bills gives me such anxiety that I just put it off forever. And now that they're in collections I have to call to set up payment plans, and calling people gives me MAJOR anxiety so I keep not doing it. It's a vicious cycle.

I am that way when it comes to school work too. Doing the assignment gives me anxiety so I avoid it. I'm better now though. I still avoid it but I don't do it for so long that I don't have time to finish.

I get anxiety when opening bills too....or any mail except purchases. I have to have someone I trust sitting with me as I open them. Glad I'm not the only one.

Yes ill ONLY check my bills online IF I have the money to pay. And because I do it this way, my cable has gotten turned off many times. Thank god they offer a 5 day grace period for low income people so all I have to do is call and let them know I'll pay in a few days and they turn it on. Fwew!

I am in financial trouble too. I have an app on my phone to automatically hang it up when they call. I know when I get the notices to attend hearings in aid of execution that my procrastination will be over. It's not like anything I could say or offer on the phone is going to change that anyway.

I procrastinate too. I check the mail probably 1x a week. I don't open bills or make calls when I should. I avoid the phone at all costs.

I get severe anxiety and paranoia when I'm depressed. I don't leave for months ( my box would fill up and the PO would take the mail and leave a card that said to pick it up at the PO) to deal with this most of my bills are automatically paid though my bank. those I got though the mail I guessamat and pay them on line because the thought of having to deal with people is far too traumatic. Last time I over guessamated and had a lot of credit and didn't have to pay a bill for months. Because I'm not leaving my place I spend no money and know there's enough for the bills. I don't buy anything on line cause then I'd have to answer the door.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one!! Should I also mention that my credit is absolutely horrible because of this too?! And it doesn't help that my bf is the exact same way as me. Neither of us have credit to speak of now. Forget ever trying to get financed for a single thing these days. Ugh.
