I need advise. Anyone in a similar situation to mine who has found some quality information on how to stop this? Do I write Trump himself and beg and plead? Will he hear me? Can anyone hear me?

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I highly doubt that writing to Trump personally would change anything. :/

I am not at all well-versed in politics, but surely it would take considerable time before Trump could implement the changes that you fear? He can't suddenly be like "Ok, obamacare/whatever you're concerned about is gone" and that's that. It takes time and the agreement of other people.

Breathe deeply. The world is not over yet. It's possible that many of his campaign promises won't come to fruition.

I hope you are right. It seemed Obamacare was first line of business. How fast it can go we are only guessing. How many months do I have? Do I just bury my head in the sand and hope for the best? Is that all I can do? Do we have any power to actually stop this? Do I have any power? I will sell my body on a street corner if it comes to it. That's about the only marketable asset I have. How much will individualized plans for people with serious preexsisting conditions costs? Are there charities I can contact? If I wait until
The chips are down I might have so much trust upon me that I will just fall apart more than I already have these past 40 something years.

Maybe I am out of touch with some Americans, but I am going to speak facts here.

You are rapidly losing your influence all over the world, and you all are too busy infighting American vs American to see it. Look at The Bahamas, we for have many years been a staunch American ally, that is all changing. Baha Mar, the largest development resort in our country, has been secretly handed over to the Chinese by our government, we are now buying armoured vehicles tear gas grenade launchers and other military equipment from China, and are negotiating with the Chinese to sell them 10,000 acres of land on Andros aswell as fishing rights in the country. Please tell me how America is not losing influence world wide. We are slowly slipping back into the Communist sphere of influence through our trade with China and Cuba and even Russia. What interest could they possibly have in a country so close to America, oh thats right, military bases to counter Western influence.

Look I am going to be frank with you my American friends the good half of the world thinks you are a bunch of idiots even before Trump. I don't feel that way but many people do. Your politics don't even compare to the Bahamas politics, you think your s*** is crazy. Don't do it. Here in the Bahamas we mudsling for every little political fallacy we even had a Senator tell the Chairwoman to "stop likin man" based off of a popular Bahamian youtube comedy.

Anyways, let me tell you why Trump won. It is a global trend right now as the political pendulum swings back to the right. Look at Nigel Farage in the UK, the rise of far-right groups in Italy and Switzerland among other countries, Brexit. Point is people all over the world are tired of establishment candidates, and that is what many of you (based on what I am getting from your opinions assuming you are Democrats) chose. Bernie would have been the best anti-establishment candidate the Democrats could have put forward, but they didn't. Trump won on the anti-establishment vote.

All I am trying to tell you guys is that nothing is going to get done for your country unless people from both sides come together and work bipartisanly. Like I said in my earlier post I was not happy that my candidate lost in our 2012 election, but hey I moaned about it for a few days, then realized life goes on. It has hardly affected me, besides from all these friggin new taxes he has put on us. So get up, and go live your lives to the fullest, regardless of who is President.

Blessings to you my American friends.

What part of it was insensitive and tasteless. I don't see any of it as being bad or classless. Cold hard facts are facts, and as many of you probably know I don't believe in political correctness by now and I'm not going to sugarcoat anything to be quite frank. Call me whatever you want I really don't care, I've been called many things. If you don't believe what I am saying look up the current affairs of the Bahamas, maybe it will shed some light. Caribbean people aren't known for their political correctness lol. We in the Bahamas still have a debate over whether Sir Stafford Sands, arguably the greatest Caribbean economic leader, was a racist or not. So every country has its fair share of issues behind it. Anyways I've spoken enough I'm not an American and hold no interest in your affairs other than a condo in Florida which taxes are paid for. Good luck with your country, I've said what I have had to say.

The president nominates, again, it is the Congress that votes to approve or disapprove that appointment suggestion. Email your Congressmen and let them know if you approve or disapprove of a justice appointee. Speak up.

Again...allies in Congress. Likely, in two years, if we are dissatisfied, the votes will go to the Democratic runners and we will likely have a very different Congress then.

I agree with the above imbalance statement, but please, still email your views to Congress and the President.

FYI: Writing a letter can take months to reach it's intended party in Washington, D.C. (Remember the anthrax in the envelope scare?). So email or Fax, do not use snail mail.

American is still a world power. We have better technology than any nation in the world other than Israel. If other countries start to invade, what's the point really? We're all going down in a nuclear disaster.

I feel like I have a very average IQ but did serve in the military for a short while in the 80s and 90s. Defending ourselves takes effort and good leadership. A technological edge only lasts as long as you continue to innovate. Since we are blessed with having 2 vast oceans protecting many of our borders, the threat of being invaded by a conventional army is relatively small. So the biggest threats are civil war, nuclear, chemical/biological.
Nuclear weapons are scary for me. We keep ourselves safe by designing our systems so that even if we are attacked first, we will be able to retaliate in kind. It seems to work well enough so long as world leaders are rational. However, if a suicidal terrorist gets ahold of one, they are not rational people.
I think the best way to prevent civil war and defend our safety is through economic growth. Currently, there is to much "red tape" (if you are in business, filing tax returns is way to complicated) corruption (corporations who lobby to obtain tax loopholes or regulations that squash competition). I was willing to give someone else a try. Because a smaller number of powerful people donated to Trump's campaign, he has a smaller number of lobbiests, corporations, and special interests that he is indebted to. Trump says America has potential and promises 3-4 percent growth. Our safety nets are also not sustainable without growth. I realize he may not succeed but if he does not, there will be another election in 2-4 years. I am happy to give someone else a try but will be watching what he does.

Civil war is a real concern. Freedom and safety are illusions. The people spoke and I heard them loud and clear. I was given an IQ test once and was treated pretty special. Only missed one question but do not know my score. I tested out of high school by 7th grade but did not complete college so I'm not very educated in the typical sense. I learn faster than average but I think the meds and illness have taken their toll on this superpower. I've been called stupid and treated like a moron by many but I do not buy into this assumption and my history would indicate it's an erroneous allegation based on zero fact. You can call me uneducated but my ability to learn is higher than average objectively speaking and from what I've been told. Doesn't do me much good. Studies show that less intelligent people are more productive by end of life so what does it even matter in the long run.

Thanks for your service. My husband is a vet as well. And he's rather brilliant. He was a helicopter mechanic in the military. A Crew Cheif.

It doesn't surprise me to find out that you are a very intelligent person. Ideas and connections seem to flow from your mind. I always enjoy your posts. I do not think a person needs to go to college to be educated. Just curious and willing to read. <hugs>

Less intelligent people are even better with money! Now that boggles the mind.

Thanks for your belief in me. That was a kind thing to say and it's nice to know I don't come across as a total conspiracy theory nut job. But my thinking is off....I accept that. I need to step back and look at the big picture again. Gain a new more healthy perspective.....it might take me some time but I tend to come back around eventually.

I'm intelligent by no real effort on my part. It was a genetic gamble which paid offf in my favor I suppose. My dad says that any gifts you are born with don't count.....it's what you strive for and achieve through hard work that makes a persons characyer. I can agree but also don't wish to dismiss my gifts as complete and total luck. I think I played a part in it even if it was small. But I'm not sure it serves me anyways....I just want to relate and be average and not what would be considered mentally ill. Different is perhaps okay but mentally ill sounds like an accusation or punishment for seeing things in unique ways.

Thanks for chatting with me.

I effin' hate the electoral college. How can someone who won the popular vote lose the election??? This is like the Bush/Gore fiasco of 2000. I am just sickened by the whole thing.

Trump won the popular vote. The electoral college had nothing to do with this mess. It was all the American public who did the dirty deed. Hopefully it will all work out for the best and Trump will swing quick and fast to the center where people believe his heart lies. I used to think myself a psychic but I much concede I have no idea how this whole thing will play out. If deportations start happening in record numbers, if religious intollerence it cheered, if the wall starts going up, if more women are groped against their will, if the rich get major tax cuts, if LBGT rights are removed, if women lose ownership over their own bodies, I have faith that reasonable people will not stand for it and he will not see a second term. Presidents tend to behave themselves pretty heavily the first term...it's their second term you need to watch out for. That's when they no longer have to worry about reelection. Good luck to us all.

Well hot damn....people have more reasons to feel jaded. The figures I was fed appear to be wrong. Well, at least I have more faith in Americans as a whole now. Thank you for correcting me, I just checked the final statistics and sure enough, Hillary won. Doesn't do us any good but does leave me feeling a bit satisfied.
