So once again I have a question about lamictals effects that could actually be attributed to me stopping MJ. Every dose increase has caused me to be unable to stay asleep & I wake up every 60-90 min or so & have lots of dreams. Is this normal?

I'm not familiar with Lamictal as I never took it long term. When I did take it , I found it sedating which is not what people usually experience. Most people find it stimulating so that could be your issue but MJ is great for sleep and stopping it could have your body adjusting so that could be the culprit also. I hope you figure it all out and get some good rest soon. (((Hugs)))

Can you phone your pdoc and ask them. Not sleeping well can become a big issue fast.

I have no problems going to sleep. If I'm feeling up though... I do wake up a lot. And I do have the most vivid dreams. So far lamotrigine is the best thing I've done for myself. I used to have a such a short fuse regarding trivial arguments and would shut down for days. I now respond in a normal way. It kicked the *** out of depression and seems to allow me pleasant, mild hypomania.

I take it in the morning because it is activating for me, and Ive always had vivid dreams, so I haven't noticed anything different in the dream department.

I have been on it for quite a while now but I take trazadone for sleep so I
don't know it would keep me awake or not. I do have vivid dreams though.

Do you take it AM or PM? I recently started lamotrigine and was advised to take before bed because it can induce drowsiness. I also noticed that I was waking up a lot during the night coming in and out of odd dreams. I just started taking it earlier in the day and that seems to have helped quite a bit already. Unfortunately I'm still drowsy all the time, but I'm hoping that the better sleep will change that.

I was on it for a few months and I didn't have any side effects from it.

I do think lamictal comes in an XR formula, don't know the costs though.
