I'm a uni student and it's getting to be finals week... I've spent most of this semester in a severe depressive state and so I've gotten really behind in my classes, haven't done much of the readings, been putting off papers, etc. But I really need to be making good grades so I was thinking about taking adderall this week to help me study and focus to try to catch up on all I've missed before my finals. But I've heard it can trigger mania and I'm kind of scared about that?

Same here.

I stay up for 3 days straight after taking 1 Adderall capsule. (Tried it 3 times now, first time under the supervision of my pdoc and the other two times on my own.)

I take 60mg of Ritalin with no mania. Everyone is different though. It would be risky with your finals coming up. Going manic would destabilise you. How is your study going?

I take Vyvanse and it doesn't trigger mania. When I cut Adderall and Ritalin into lines and start snorting them, THAT triggers mania.

It can. Some people--mentally ill or not--shouldn't be on stimulants. Just a bad idea. Amphetamine psychosis is a very real problem, even with people who don't have a history of psychiatric problems and take only whatever is prescribed. Not trying to scare you, just be aware that even legal, as-directed use sometimes leads to (hypo)mania, psychosis, agitation, etc.

Not well I have a lot I need to do and I just can't focus on anything. I've been depressed lately which is why I'm having a hard time focusing I was hoping some adderall could help me get through my studies (I don't want to make it a habit or anything) but I don't want to go manic

vyvanse is the only stimulant I can take that doesn't make me manic. but when I say something like adderal makes me manic, its only for the duration of the drug, it doesn't propel me into a week long mania or anything like that. and its great for studying especially in a slightly higher than prescribed dose. I say go for it.

This causes me to not sleep and I become manic but fixed in one thing and I become obsessive.
I've had a bad experience with this. I took it with out a dr's consent and now I know to not do that again.
