Has anyone seen the trailer for the film coming out called "Split?"
What a way to drive the stigma higher than it already is. It's about some guy with 23 personalities and he's dangerous..

Watched the trailer. This is just what we need. A thriller with MI isn't what the stigma needs.

The movie looks good. Most people with mental illness are not violent but some are. Movies explore the depths of the human mind. If people watch it and make assumptions about all people with mental illness because of a movie, they are just ignorant and need more education before they are taken seriously. Movies are usually fiction and people going to watch them count on that.
My friend really likes watching true crime stories and truth is often much stranger than fiction. This movie would be harder to watch for me if it were a true story. I have a hard time with the true stuff. I like psychological thrillers and don't see them as adding stigma unless someone is ignorant.....in which case I blame the ignorance, not the movie. Just my opinion. |
