I have one that is 13 lbs and I love it! It makes me feel very safe and secure. I have always liked heavy blankets and such so figured I'd try it. They are mostly marketed towards people with autism or similar but I think they could help many types of people. I Sleep with it most nights. I don't want to risk damaging it in my washer but I mostly use it on top of many other blankets so it doesn't get real dirty. I have found it is pretty warm but I am always cold so I have a heavy top quilt and other blankets as well. I use it in the summer months but if it is warm I will fold it and jut put it over part of my body. They are pricey but I wholeheartedly believe they are worth the investment
Thanks for this!

Sure you can- just blast the a/c!

I hope my blanket is as cozy as your quilt.

Good points: I am cold too so I hope my blanket will be cozy. And that's a good idea to fold it in the summer! Yes they are pricey but I'm glad to hear you believe they're worth the investment so I didn't just waste my money.

Probably just as well. You won't run up a high electricity bill.

Yes, weight works.

I can't afford a full size blanket. But, at my psychiatrist's suggestion I made a big heavy bean bag out of a long sock. I place this over my shoulder to cope with anxiety.

I wonder if my Pdoc/nurse practitioner has heard of weighted blankets.

Most haven't. Every time I'm IP I have to explain it several times. I think the staff OT also explains it to the rest of the staff. My pdoc does know if I'm craving my blanket to watch out but I'm not sure if she learned this from me or from somewhere else.

I think I'll bring this up to my Pdoc on the 4th when I see her next- see if she's heard of them at least.

I can see where you'd be under your blanket and not want to get out!
