Hello everyone
The last couple months I've been experiencing what I probably should have experienced within the 1st weeks of starting lamotrigine but I'm here to get some feedback before I start freaking out.
It starts about an hour or 2 post taking my dose or 200 mg. I get a prickly warm feeling particularly in my upper arms. Always right before left. Then I start to feel itchy which again starts in the arms then my forehead/face starts to itch, then finally add my chest. I try not to scratch but it's clear that I have bumps large and small. On my forehead they appear like instant acne with a little crystallizing and sloughing but I'm not sure if that has to do with my scratching because they burn a little afterwards.
This was something that occurred for a few hours then went away but now it stays until the next day. OTC Hydrocortisone cream helps a little and I haven't taken Benadryl because it is extremely sedating.
I know a year and a bit with nothing is unusual but I haven't changed anything (foods the same, skin products the same, meds the same). I had the somewhat the same thing with Latuda. I was definitely allergic right away with itching non stop but not bumps or rash of any kind.
I've included a pic of my arm. I have tats so hopefully you'll be able to see what I do. I'd add my forehead pic but I seem to be able to only add 1 pic to this post.
Any and all insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for listening.

From what I've read Lamictal skin problems can show up any time you are using the drug, but the only way to rule it out is to visit your Dr.
Thanks for this!

Get a hold of your Pdoc .

SJS usually appears in mucus membranes first... Mouth and/ or genitals etc .

Since you have been getting this reaction for a couple months is actually reassuring,

Could be your allergic to the fillers that are always a part of a medication.

A friend of mine can not take generic versions of a couple psych meds due to filler reactions.

Of course it's a holiday weekend so talking to your Pdoc probably won't be soon .

I'm not a doctor , but I would probably skip every other dose on your off days see if you have the same problem if this isn't happening. Half life of Lamictal is pretty long so doubtful you will have problems skipping every other does.

Have you not seen your Pdoc since then?

SJS can do show up on anyone , tons of meds have the SJS , I was on Triliptal and I got the early warning sign , bleeding gums so I stop immediately.

There really is no medication for SJS at worse your on an IV just to keep enough fluids in your system and just wait it out.

Take care

looks a lot like what I had .. ridges and valleys (welps) ... if I am seeing the pics right ... came on very quickly ... lasted a month ... exstream itching ... has mostly gone now but has left scars and patches of thick skin .... I was on lamotrigine and doxipen ... I stopped the doxipen (our suspect as I had changed doseage) ,,, and reduced the lamotrigine ... I offer no suggestion to any action you should do ... I had three doctors and they all disagreeded what it was ... where it came from ... they did agree to reduce hot showers .... remove any allergent (whether you have ever been allergic or not) ... move to a (skin plus soap .. I use olay...) ... I was using a rx skin cream and had a steroid shot ....

If you have any "concern" please see a doctor ... only a doctor can dx you ....
