Major obsessive thoughts and nonsensical worrying. Is this hypo? It is making me severely depressed.

Is it just OCD? What's meds are there that can help the racing thoughts that won't stop?

I'm taking Lamictal 350mg, Wellbutrin 400mg and 10mg Lexapro. Would Seroquel help? I've been on every SSRi out there.

Suggestions?

I use to have racing thoughts and bad ocd prior to taking risperidone. They completely vanished at 3 and 2 mg, but since i have lowered it to 1 mg, they seem to be coming back a bit. I have been worrying about the dumbest things, and obsessing over them. Not like i did prior to risperidone, but they are back to a minor degree.
Seroquel or another neuroleptic should help with obsessive thoughts and ocd.

Racing thoughts and depressions usually mean a mixed episode. seroquel could help you but it's different for everyone.

they don't have meds that help with one thing more than the other... psychiatry for BP is pulling meds out of a hat after they try lithium. after that its a guessing game... nothing more. best of luck.

You can activelly work on distracting and countering your thoughts. Takes time, but it does not "stop working" once you master it...

Could this be a mixed episode? Very very depreased, unmotivated, yet racing thoughts I can't stop!

If it is a mixed, it's my first. Ugh. I'm at work right now, and it's pretty busy, and I'm doing a lot better than I thought I would

Mixed?

It's hard to tell if this would be OCD or a BP Mixed Episode. I never experienced OCD, although I have suffered from racing thoughts, very strange fixations, and paranoid thinking during mixed episodes. In your experience, it very well could be mixed based on your description.

Seroquel actually did a lot to help me climb my way out of mixed episodes, and I'm thankful for that. I started sleeping again, and it has a calming effect. The only struggle I'm having with Seroquel now is mood-maintenance, but it's great for many in this area....just my personal experience, and sometimes it's just a matter of determining which dose is appropriate. Tweaks here and there are not uncommon during different phases of BP.

I'm not a doctor, but you might just want to double check to make sure your other meds aren't exacerbating your symptoms. Some meds can actually cause agitation and actually induce mixed mania (for instance SSRIs and certain AD's). You might just want to check in with your pdoc on this just so it can be ruled out, or changed if it is in fact a contributing factor.

Wow - I have never heard of a mixed episode but I have these all the time. I can't get out of bed but my mind is going a mile a minute. I can't imagine working with that. I hope it gets better.
