Hi guys,
I'm having such rough time right now. I think it's starting to sink in that my husband left me last week. Also my grandfather who helped raise me found out he has cancer and very little time left on Monday and today was the worst day of my 8 yr job I've ever had. I'm falling apart.

Since my therapist told me on Saturday that she thinks I have some bipolar issues and that I need an evaluation I've called over 30 psychiatrists and no one can see me for over a month. I'm scared and really want to get some medication to see if it will begin to help me. Any support right now is welcome. Thanks.

I'm sorry you're going through so much! Life hits hard sometimes. I'm glad you have a therapist to help you. I've found that pdocs often have a long wait for the initial evaluation for some reason. Best thing to do is make an appointment and see if they can put you on a cancellation list. That way if someone cancels you can get in. But I'm not sure they'll do that for an initial evaluation.

I hope you continue to use your therapist as a resource. Journaling might help as well. Anything to get your grief and anger out.

Welcome to pc. Keep posting it it helps!

Since you've not had an evaluation yet It's helpful to pick a pdoc that is very familiar with mood disorders even if it means a bit longer wait instead of just going with the first available pdoc. But yeah, it's a wait pretty much everywhere.

If it's any consolation, I can say that when I broke up with my partner in 2007 after several years together with plans for marriage, it was an anxious time for a month and a half but gradually rediscovering myself and living more confidently and independently was the best thing to have happened to me. Our relationship started with me basically on the pedestal and him doing everything to court me and ended in the exact opposite, with me trying to keep him. In retrospect, it was pathetic of me and a far cry from who I'd been before I met him.
