My pdoc let me come off my Lamictal last appointment. I've been completely off it for a little over two weeks now. Since being off it, my mood has been ****, I want to cry all the time, I'm sleeping more and still exhausted all the time. I'm not sure if it's just withdrawal symptoms or depression, but it honestly doesn't even matter.
I'm angry at myself for coming off the Lamictal. I shouldn't have asked to stop it. It was working, whether I saw it at the time or not. And I came off it at the worst time possible. I have a lot going on with school/work. My aunt is dying. I don't know how I'm going to deal with any of this now. I just saw my aunt at hospice, and it's all just blowing up in my face. I made a mistake and I don't know what's going to happen now. I'd feel like an absolute idiot calling him and telling him that I should have stayed on the Lamictal. ![]()

Don't beat yourself up, you couldn't know the effect it would have. I think a lot of us would like to get off of medications (or some of them) when we're feeling relatively well.
Can you go back on it? Do you have any left from before? Can you call your pdoc to fax over a script to your pharmacy asap? I -and I think many here- have found Lamictal to be very effective; you're not alone in having had success with it. I hope you're able to get back on it as soon as possible. And, again, don't beat yourself up, you made the best decision you could at the time. |

Don't feel like an idiot for calling your doctor. You tried something, it didn't work, and now you want to go back to the way things were. That's totally normal.

I agree call your doctor. Don't be ashamed. All of us make mistakes.
Hope you get back to feeling better soon.

Are you able to go back on it now? Also, had you been withdrawing slowly over time or just recently came off?
You don't have to be hard on yourself for daring to try something different and now learning that it ultimately didn't work out. And when feeling so awful, remember there is a rational and FIXABLE basis for that; life is not awful, it just can feel that way when newly off of something that had been working.

At least you know it works. Like everyone said, call your pdoc and get put back on.

if you are going to re-start it you need to titrate up from the beginning again so you'll need to talk to your pdoc about that. You have to start over to prevent the rash.
