I'm prescribed 200mg lamictal. Do most people here split a dose like that between morning and evening? Or take it all at once? I've been trying it both ways but haven't been consistent enough to figure it out. So.. what should I expect when it comes to splitting versus all at once? No matter what.. since I've been taking it I sleep like a baby and have very vivid dreams regardless of how I take it. But I wonder about the effects are on daily energy. It seems like lately I'm wanting to crash early in the evening.. i.e. very sleepy after dinner. I can hardly read a few pages of a book before conking out. Before these meds I would read just to calm down and would have to force myself to sleep. In a lot of ways I miss that.

I'm in 150 and the Dr has me take 100 at night and 50 in the am. Before she upped my dose I just took 100 at night. Has your Dr specified how you should take it? If not give them a call and ask if one way is better or has benefits over the other.

She said to split it but I never asked why. I'm due to see her next week.. so I will ask. Just wondering how other people have responded to how they take it.

So you take more in the evening then. I assume in your case it is to help you sleep then?

So doing it this way do you notice a change in your energy level? i.e. are you more energized in the morning or evening?

But you are right... It is probably just an individual thing.

Well at this point my medication regiman has me stable and I've been this way for two years. I'm just really lucky. I honestly don't know how lamictal specifically affects my energy. My medication cocktail prescribed and taken in a way that has my energy levels where they should be when they should be... Here's my schedule :

8 am Wellbutrin SR 200 mg
8:30-9:00 am Vyvanse 70 mg
8 pm Wellbutrin SR 200 mg
9-10 pm lamictal 200 mg with 2 25 mg atarax(this is an amazing drug for allergies, sleep, and anxiety... Treated all 3 for me)

I used to be on Wellbutrin XL but it was terrible for me. The SR has saved my life along with the lamictal of course. I'd imagine that w out Vyvanse, I'd be pretty damn tired all the time...

I took 200mg at bed time for 8 years then we increased the dose so now I take 100mg in the morning and 200 at night.
I take .5mg of klonipin to sleep. Which has been a godsend to me.

My pdoc actually just talked to me about this today and gave me a choice to split it. But I rather take it all in the morn so I don't skip a dose. I'm bad about taking my dinner time meds.

I take 300mg, all in the AM. I tried splitting 150/150 AM/PM, but it messed up my sleep.

At 200mg, I just take it all at once. When I was on 400mg, I HAD to split it (or my vision would get all wonky, etc.). People have different reactions to it energy-wise. Almost seems to run half and half from reading over the years. (Or maybe thirds -- energy up, sedating or no noticeable effect on energy.)

I'd have to say though that if you find it sedating, it almost seems that taking it all at night would be best. I'm curious to know what your provider says about why she recommends splitting it, mossanimal. Can you let us know what she says? (Or maybe from your feedback of it having such noticeable energy effect on you would override the thinking behind it. Dunno. Curious.)
Thanks for this!
