I forgot what the pill is called but it's naltrexone with Wellbutrin. Not sure why the naltrexone though because that's an opiate blocker. Wellbutrin only took away my appetite for about the first week but I'm back to stuffing my face again lol. But yea I suppose it could work for some. Any thoughts?

I don't think I lost any weight on Wellbutrin. It's also supposed to help you quit smoking and it didn't do that either. But it did help my depression for awhile so that's good.

It helped me with smoking as I haven't smoked in 5 years. Appetite same like first two weeks it blocked hunger or staved it off but then hungry again.

It's called contrave. I wonder if pdoc would prescribe that?

Vyvanse is a stimulant also used for binge eating but I abused it so had to quit. Like other stuff, it worked for about a week and that's it.

Wellbutrin helped me with weight, energy and sex drive. Years ago I thought it was a cure for me. I think it aided in these things because it helped me go hypo, bordering on full manic but I'm not sure. It caused some problem...but it also helped a lot. I hope to find a med I can take with it, that decreases negative effects while preserving the positive ones. I plan to go back on it soon.

Back when I was on Wellbutrin XL, I noticed it suppressed my appetite quite a bit. I lost weight, even when I was on it with meds that cause weight gain. The higher the dose was, the more it had that effect, from what I recall. It also helped reduce the sexual side effects of one of the other meds I was on at the time.

Wellbutrin took away my appetite at first--maybe a month? But then the loss of appetite went away and it never came back even when I upped the dose (for depression). I think it would make a crappy weight loss medicine.

I lost 10 pounds when I first went on it but then it quit. That's a bonus but certainly not a weightless drug.

I just sent a note to my pdoc to see if she would prescribe this for me.
I have a bmi of 27 and have high cholseterol. anxious to see what she will say. bizi

I am not even suggesting this to the pdoc, given how dangerously close I am to mania already.
I am however on zonisamide. I have a mild rash. The neurologist who prescribed zonisamide (it is a migraine prevention drug but also a weight loss drug) says the rash is too mild to be a zonisamide-caused rash, so I am seeing a dermatologist tomorrow to figure out what is going on.

Helps me a bit with weight, energy and sex drive but when I tried a higher dose (300 mg a day)--couldn't sleep at all and gave me extreme anxiety. I take either 200 mg or 150 mg a day (I chose depending on what I think I need) and then take 300 mg gabapentin right before bedtime to calm me down.

My sex drive is usually in the toilet and having one really means a lot to me so that side effect was appreciated more than I can convey. |

Can't say it did anything for weight for me, but in combination with the other meds I was on, it probably didn't stand a fighting chance. I honestly don't think I had any side effects from Wellbutrin (positive or negative), but it did work well on my depression level.

My pdoc says that going off zyprexa will do much more for my weight loss than wellbutrin did which is good because I lost 10 pounds from going on wellbutrin.
