Well, it happened, again. I just got discharged from the hospital yesterday after a 5 day stay. I told myself after the first hospitalization in November that I wouldn't let it happen again. Apparently my mind and body had a different plan. I'm glad to be out, but also afraid of slipping back into that dark hole.

Welcome back!
It's hard getting out of hospital and transitioning back to normal life. Be patient with yourself and take your time as you need it. Hospital isn't a failure in any way; sometimes you just need some extra help. I hope you got what you needed there.

I've had 5 hospitalizations. For me they have oddly kind of clustered. I avoided it for many years (mainly because my pdoc did not want another doctor messing with my delicate and not traditional meds; now she's at the same hospital that I go to so she maintains input). But I had one IP stay for a med change in 2009. Then I was in twice in a few months in 2011 and not back until I had 2 stays a few months apart in 2015-2016. And then I've stayed out again for 14 months. Every time I've gone in I've felt like it meant I was taking a huge step backwards but in the end I really got a lot better within a few months of the admission, even when it took a 2nd admission to fully adjust meds.
I hope it is the same for you.

Thanks everyone. This all started because I'd been hearing voices and seeing things. Wednesday was the icing on the cake so to speak when I had a major meltdown at work. I promis d one of the managers I would go to the ER, despite not wanting to go because I knew what the end result would be. I had a different pdoc this time so it was a new experience than what I went through in November. Anyway, he adjust my meds slightly. I'll discuss this with my regular pdoc when I see him tomorrow afternoon.

I just got out of my first hospitalization about two weeks ago and was reassuringly (/sarcasm) told by other people on the ward that I would likely have multiple hospitalizations over the course of my life.
So. At least I have a goal to work towards. Not going back. At least the food was decent. |

Saw my pdoc today and it went well thank God. He's pretty much keeping me at the dosages that the pdoc I saw while IP changed. I'm only taking 150mg of Wellbutrin in the morning and no longer taking the additional 100mg in the evening. He also increased my Seroquel to 300mg and I'll meet with him again next week to see how things are going. If needed he said he would increase the Seroquel again, but hopefully the 300mg will suffice, at least for the time being. Also, trying to get myself off of taking Trazodone which I've only been using as a PRN at night anyway.

With 300mg Seroquel, it's unlikely you'll need the Trazadone.

That's pretty much what the pdoc said. He told me that someone like myself who has been diagnosed with BP2 generally doesn't take more than about 400mg of Seroquel. I'm just glad to be able to sleep more through the night and that my hallucinations are slowing down, at least for now.

That's great to hear that you're doing better with the hallucinations. It's good to be able to see the good in it. When I took those doses of Seroquel I couldn't do anything but eat the entire fridge.

I still have a long way to go, but thankfully I have a great care team who is patient and kind.

I'm sorry you've been been going through this but glad you're doing better. Please give yourself lots of extra room. I know what you mean about telling yourself you won't let it happen again. I also know how frustrating it is when it happens anyway. Hugs to you!

Ugh. Just when I thought I was doing alright I feel like my life is crashing before me. Found out by text that my grandma passed away yesterday. This sucks. All I wanna do is drink and get drunk.
