I honestly have no concept of engineering because my brain cannot grasp the mathematics. My work was very descriptive and based on field work and observations. Even the molecular work was still descriptive... just on a smaller scale. I was able to use computers to do the stats and analysis... I was only good at knowing which programs to use.
So.. I have a huge respect for engineers and mathematicians. If you combine their abilities with an artistic soul.. beautiful things happen.

That is pretty cool, if I would have gone that route, I would want to look into epigenetics. Is that a legit area of study?

I am also very interested in the whole phylogeny recapitulates ontology or vice versa, I forget theory.

I think in equations so it really works out for me. Specifically I currently an a telemetry engineer. It is all RF energy and I can see it. In my mind at least. Sometimes I am able to paint them, it is amazing, but I have to be really elevated for that.

I get to do field experimentation as well, I work on the coolest jet in the world that everyone loves to hate. Personally though I am seriously gratified by my work and the freedom I have to pursue interests I have relating to it and actually being able to test them.

I personally never saw much evidence for that theory.. although many of those old ideas are being ressurected with new understandings of subatomic particle behavior and genes (especially quantum entanglement). For example... Lamarkian evolution.. which was debunked.. is now being brought back to life. And one of my best friends works at the Plank Institute in Germany and is observing things very similar to the old 'Goldberg's Hopeful Monster' happening in the evolution of round worms. Meaning that big/radical mutations can create the rapid formation of new species. Wow... my brain still stores this stuff. Awesome.

Alokin.. re-reading my response to the 'Ontogeny Recapitulates...' theory.. it sounds like I came across as pedantic and uppity.

And yes... Epigenetics is going to get bigger and bigger.. especially as that quantum entanglement stuff gives actual pathways to how genes can change in direct response to an environmental change.
