If your boss or someone else of authority asked you why your acting really different and not delivering up to standards what could you say to make things better and without outing yourself as bipolar/mentally ill?

I would just say I'm sorry I'm going through a lot lately and stressed out. I'm going to try harder to refocus on work........i mean something along those lines. That's about as much as most bosses want to hear anyway

I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning, I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes Listen as the crowd would sing Now the old king is dead! Long live the king! One minute I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand |

That's exactly what I do too. No details, just stress in my personal life, but I have it under control now

Yes, it's usually best not to disclose a bipolar diagnosis at work. I got burned badly twice and I would never do it again if I were ever to go back to work. Using a vague, "I've been dealing with some personal issues" type of statement is all that's needed in the vast majority of cases; it's really none of your employer's business anyway.
