I started an antidepressant just over 2 weeks ago on top of lamotrigine/lamictal. First week i felt ok, it just kind of made me wired and weird as new drugs do.
Second week i thought i was starting to feel much better. But I've realised that i was mid cycle and ovulating can send my mood high, so of course i was feeling better. Now the hormones are gone, I'm not feeling so great. I don't want to get out of bed. I'm numb, emotionless, stupid forgetting everything. I am dreading having to be social with people and going to work. Just fed up with all this ![]()

I truly wish I could help but as a guy I really can't understand the ovulating and
how that affects you but many of the meds out there need time to really start to help. It could very well be that two weeks is just not enough time to feel any significant affects.

It can take 4-6 weeks for an antidepressant to really kick in therapeutically.

Medications work very quickly in my system fortunately. Could you call your pdoc and run how you're feeling by him/her? Maybe this isn't the right medication for you.

Thank you
They tend to work quickly for me too. I'm only on a low dose, so the doc is bound to tell me to put it up, maybe the lam too. I don't want to be taking these stupid pills ![]() If things don't change much from this i might as well take nothing.

From what I've read, it's probably a *good* sign your AD isn't working super fast, as this is often an indication that it isn't actually "working," it's just triggering hypomania. When I took zoloft for the first time (without being on anything else), I felt like I was literally on a combination of crack and ecstasy within a matter of days. Though I felt totally and instantly cured, apparently this wasn't a good thing, and it definitely didn't last. The fact this hasn't been the case for you (except for the wired feeling you mention which sounds under control now) is a positive sign. It's totally normal for ADs to take up to 6 weeks or longer to really work. And even then you might find you'll need a higher dose. So, to answer your question: probably
