My husband went to the hospital at 2 am today after hurling for a good 15 or so mins and had really bad pain and it ended up being his gallbladder. He had emergency surgery this AM to remove it. The nurse called at 9:45 am to say he was going into surgery and the dr called at 10:40 am to tell me the surgery went well and that he might come home today. My husband said he's ok and that he's felt better.

I feel like such a bad wife though because I'm really trying to get over there but my body isn't cooperating. Having a bad IBS flare and the meds aren't helping. My insides feel like they're being tied in knots. I don't really want to drive over there during this crap going on because i might literally crap myself in the car. Oh how I love IBS. Maybe it's bad cause I'm anxious. Maybe a klonopin would help. who knows.

Anyways. that's what i'm dealing with today.

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time today with your IBS. Please be gentle with yourself. This is something that is out of your control and I'm sure your husband knows you're there in spirit. Have you been able to talk to him? I'm glad he came through surgery well.

i texted with him a bit but i think he's fallen asleep. he said he's felt better, but i would expect that when you have an organ removed. my worry is that they're going to prescribe him some meds and our pharmacy closes at 6 pm on sundays, so it'll have to be sent to a 24 hr pharmacy and that's all the way on the other side of town. he went to the hospital in kernersville because i know that one usually had hardly any waiting time. i'm surprised they did the surgery there cause it's one of those little satellite hospitals.

tbh i thought i had given him food poisoning with what i cooked last night. lol. i guess his gallbladder didn't like all the bread he ate last night though. i made a whole box of texas toast and he ate 5 pieces, plus a whole cornish game hen. the last time he had a gallbladder attack he ate a huge bowl of ice cream from cold stone on top of dinner.

I really wish they had taken his gallbladder after that attack. i think with the insurance we have now it's going to be cheaper though, since our out of pocket max is $800 per person.

IBS totally sucks. especially since I'm on antibiotics since i had a bad case of strep that was brewing for weeks. by the time they found out i had strep it was attacking my joints and I couldn't even straighten my fingers. luckily today is the last day of antibiotics.

I've taken 2 bentyls so far today and it's not even helping. my intestines are just rumbling.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. My husband had his gallbladder removed while we were dating. It helped him except he can't eat a lot of fatty stuff.

Hope you feel better from the IBS. That has got to be such a pain.

You are living through one of the scenarios I've hoped would never happen to me. IBS attacks can be so relentless, so severe. People, in general, fail to understand just how severe.

I am sure your husband does understand, as he has seen you suffer through IBS attacks.

We can surely feel dysfunction al when we miss an important event due to IBS. Why me and why now?

Be kind to yourself. You are going through hell and deserve compassion, too.

So glad your hubby is okay!
