After 6 long weeks IP I am finally being discharged tomorrow morning (Friday). It has been a rough ride but I finally feel relatively stable and safe. Haldol seems to be the medication that did the trick. I wish it was introduced earlier so I would not have had to stay so long but I guess thats the luck of the draw.

Initially I will be staying with my parents for a week then seeing my pdoc and going home after that if all is well. I am a bit worried the mixed state will return as I have been hypomanic this week but am trying to be positive and hope that things just keep getting better and more stable.

Getting out of hospital will be awesome. I will have my freedom back. So excited.

Awesome news!

Let us know how Haldol works for you in the coming weeks. Give us an update. I've never tried it before, but I've read lots of positive "reviews" on this forum about it.

Best wishes
Thanks for this!

Thanks so much for the support everyone. It strengthens me. In two hours I will be discharged. Feeling excited and a little anxious, but mostly happy to be getting out of this place. Can't wait to be free to go out alone without an escort. have a lot of study to do and a couple of friends to catch up with so I will be kept occupied.

My pdoc doesn't want me to drive while I am on so many meds. This means I am completely dependant on my parents for transport. Next Wed I see my pdoc and he will re-assess this.if I am doing well my meds will be reduced and I will be able to drive and go back to work. Ao frustrating but my reaction times are not good enough to be safe on the road.
