I've been dealing with dissociation...derealization..whatever you want to call it, for years. Usually I can distract myself out of it.

But sometimes it gets really really bad. Like I don't think anything around me is real and my head is spinning. I try EVERYTHING to get out of it. I was just taking a shower and this happened. I ended up digging my nails so far into my skin and scratched across my body to where it bled.

I know being alone makes it worse. That's why I hate nights and showers.

I've probably posted about this before, but nothing has helped.

I am sorry you are going through this.
Have you heard of "grounding techniques?"

I think you will find some relief once you are on your meds consistently.
I found Latuda, a drug I use for bipolar 2 depression, helped with dissociative tendencies. Some types of meds may help you.

Please remember to mention these episodes to your doctor.

Have you any grounding techniques? Stress and anxiety triggers us off, like walking into a busy grocery store....overstimulation of the senses with sights, sounds, smells, lights, people, moving objects, rows and rows of symmetrically stacked shapes and colors...

I either have to walk out or ground myself. I like to touch things....like holding a can and reading the label, or pick up a produce focusing on it's features- color, size, shape, texture, imperfections...

It's like a bubble enveloped me where everything I know is real but feels unreal so much that I'm in another dimension. I feel so disconnected from personal objects that they can very easily be a strangers even though I'm familiar with said object.

I've taken a lot of LDS when I was younger and am very familiar with experiencing weirdness...so sometimes I just sit and watch "enjoying" the effect till I can't deal with it too much longer. Lol

Hi, I've had derealization for several decades. It never goes away and nothing makes it better (I've tried various meditation and grounding techniques and medication...LOTS of meds). I hate the derealization. I feel like it severs me from the world, and it's a creepy thing to live with.

I've tried some grounding techniques, but can't find anything that works.
