I have a scenario I am dealing with in my life where the person that controls what happens has a preconceived notion of how I should think and act. So I need to try to convince him and move past his current beliefs. This is a very important thing that I can't just walk away from.

How do you handle it when you run into this wall?

The only people I have in my life currently are people I can be direct and open with. Going forward I'm going to be careful with anyone I allow into my life and rather than stew in anything, I plan to tackle problems in the moment by being courteous but also direct. I would need more details on your situation to elaborate on how I'd handle it. I think taking a moment to gather the thoughts and not react emotionally is good but not so long that I stew in it all or later regret not standing up for myself. (((Hugs)))

Can you elaborate a bit? Your description of the situation is so vague it's hard to even try to help.

I wish I could say more but I have to keep it vague.

"Need to try to convince him" of what?

I'm inclined to say: Just be yourself. Know yourself and be yourself.
Hard to answer this post due to its very vague nature.

I agree with Wild Coyote. Would love to help you but the post is just too vague. Is this person a member of this forum? What is the need to be vague? Wild Coyote is right....you need to be and act like yourself.
