I guess my brain is going nuts lately. I'm still already freaked out about hearing some lady yelling for Peter this morning. ? Wth?!

Now I have this Paxil my pdoc says to start and to be honest I don't want to start another medicine. I'm afraid to take it because I do t want to feel weird or gain weight. I'm fat enough as it is!

Also it's the med my abusive stepmother took and I feel weird about taking it because of that reason too. It brings up memories of how mean she was when she wouldn't take her meds. I work hard to do things opposite of her. I won't even buy her brand spaghetti sauce! Yes-that's how much it bugs me.

I guess my mind is just swirling with stuff tonight.

I e taken 10mg melatonin and 1.5mg Ativan and my brain is just racing.

Paxil made me feel more peaceful, almost right away after starting it. My anxiety lessened, and then after taking it over a month, I started feeling way better (anxiety and obsession were my main problems at the time). I hope you will take what your pdoc says to take and give it a chance. You can always let your pdoc know right away if you experience really bad side effects. Good luck!

My brain is all muddled maybe from the night meds. Things are confusing right now so I'll have to read tomorrow.

I'm just scared. My mind is racing

How likely is it there is a frog in my room here
Upstairs?
I keep hearing one. Annoying.

I'm sorry you have to go on paxil. It's unlikely a frog is there. Hopefully you get some sleep.

Have you told your patch how badly this makes u feel? Maybe there's an alternative? And maybe he could offer you some counselling?
Thanks for this!

ill personally never take paxil again. too much apathy, too difficult to taper. some people swear by it though, especially if there' obsessive stuff going on ((this according to a former shrink...). i dunno. my other concern, personally, would be that an antidepressant can raise antipsychotic blood levels, sometimes...so watch out for that, if you do take an antidepressant. twtiches, tremor, stiff gait, dysphoria, etc...not fun stuff (been there, done that...).

Paxil made me feel great! I loved it. But I gained too much weight from it and had to come off. I didn't have any issues coming off of it, my pdoc at the time made me taper very slowly as he put me on Pristiq.

Maybe you can take it short term...? I'm not sure how that works. And everyone is different, my experience may not be the same as yours. Good luck!

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. You're not alone. I took paxil many years ago and I don't remember it as one that made me gain weight. I hope this medication helps you and that you feel better soon. Thinking of you....

Thanks for this!

I agree with the poster who said to tell your doc about what this brings up for you. I think you should be given another option considering the bad history this stirs up. I'm so sorry for how your step mom treated you Hun. That sounds terrible.

When I was prescribed Paxil, my friend (whose father was a psychiatrist) smiled all weird and told me it would help me lose weight. Instead, it make me so manic and pack on weight super fast at the same time. I took it a few times with the same results. That doesn't mean you will have these side effects though. It did help my depression and social anxiety though. (((Hugs)))

Well I took the first dose today. 20mg. So far in kinda calm feeling and sleep gosh. BUT I slept very little last night. I wasn't even tired to well after 1am and idk when I fell asleep but I woke up early and didn't go back to sleep. It's weird.

I'm still scared of taking this though.

It sounds like you got past the initial problem holding you back so it's worth following through and seeing if this med is helpful for you. We are all different and just because it doesn't work for some of us, doesn't mean it won't work fabulously for you. I hope it does. I know you want to be a peer support worker so I hope this does the trick for you.

Today went ok. I got out with a friend and went to the store. It was nice. We took her hyperactive cute three year old.

I've felt ok today. Anxiety wasnt as bad at ALL today. I felt more in control of myself. And my thoughts aren't as muddled.
