Direction, please don't quit your meds without talking to your pdoc. It's dangerous to go off them cold turkey. Maybe you need your meds adjusted by your pdoc.

I hope you feel better very soon.

Hugs,
(if ok)

Jan

I agree with January...don't just quit the meds...it could get worse if you come off of them.

Talk to your pdoc and I am sure that there is some changing up that can be done...
You will get through this and come out to bluer skies.

Hmmm...well, I don't have extensive knowledge in Lamictal being that I have never taken in and the fact that I'm schizophrenic, incorrectly diagnosed as bipolar. The only mood stabilizers I've tried are Lithium and Depakote.

how long have you been on the lamactil?? from what everyone keeps telling me changes in meds can take a while to start noticing any difference. hang in there things are bound to get better. let me know how you are doing with the lamactil, there was at one point talk of switching me from lithium to lamactil. Have you been on lithium? keep in touch, try to think happy thoughts even though it may be hard at times what prescriptions?

Lamictal takes a while to start working, and for some it might not work at all.

Bipolar disorder can be a true pain in the flesh.. Some might get better with just a few meds and make no adjustments and some have to go through hell because nothing works. :-/

Much strength to you, Direction, and everyone else too. :-)

DON'T STOP TAKING UR MEDS! UR'LL ONLY GET WORSE, I'M AN RN. I'VE BEEN BATTLING THIS FOR OVER 8 YEARS, WRONG DIAGNOSES, WRONG MED, U HAVE TO FIND THE DOC THAT WILL LISTEN TO U, CALL U BACK RIGHT AWAY IF U HAVE SIDE EFFECTS, OR PROBLEMS WITH THE MEDS, COMMUNICATE WITH THE DOCTOR THAT'S THE ONLY WAY HE/SHE WILL KNOW IF THEY ARE WORKING FOR YOU. IT'S TRIAL AND ERROR. I KNOW IT SUCKS, U FEEL LIKE A GUINEA PIG. THAT'S HOW I FELY FOR YEARS! NOW I'M ON THE RIGHT COMBINATION. ADDERRAL 20MG TID, TOPAMAX 400MG BID, KLONOPIN 2MG BID, GEODON 80MG AT NIGHT AND REMERON 45MG AT NIGHT. IF U STOP WITHOUT DOCTOR'S ORDERS U WILL GO THRU WITHDRAWAL AND THAT'S EVEN WORSE, YOU'LL BE SUICIDAL, NOT TO MENTION THE OTHER THINGS THAT COME ALONG WITH IT. MY DOCTOR TOOK ME OFF OF CYMBALTA I WENT THRU WITHDRAWAL WHICH WAS WORSE THAN COMING OFF OF HEROIN! IN SOME CASES U COULD HAVE SEIZURES! PLEASE LISTEN TO ME I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I WORRIED ABOUT UR SAFETY!

Some perscriptions take a long time (even months) to see results. Only your doctor should put you on/take you off of meds. NEVER go off without consulting her first - some meds are actually dangerous to go off of cold turkey. Also, sometimes you don't see a change that is actually occurring because it isnt' as big a change as you had hoped. There may be another "drug cocktail" that will work for you better or maybe you need to give this one more time. There are no meds that just make things all better... all they can do is help you be more "normal". Right now I am going through some hellish depression, but talking to my doc about all the stuff going on in my life, she says my reaction is actually the reaction of a healthy minded person going through this crap. I'd be much worse without them. Moral of the story is: always talk to your doc before changing ANYTHING!!!
