I had a follow-up appointment with the doctor I saw inpatient yesterday. I told him about how bad my anxiety is. He prescribed me .5mg of clonazepam to take three times a day. I took a dose yesterday and it helped so much! I was able to take my daughter to the park and to the library. Driving wasn't freaking me out. I didn't have a damn panic attack outside my daughter's school while waiting to pick her up.

But now I'm torn. As you all know I had a hell of a time getting off of clonazepam.

But then I tell myself it's only 1.5mg. I was on 4mg before when my moron doctor had me taper off it too fast.

I'm not sure what to do! It's helping me so much!

What should I do? I need opinions!

I used to take 0.5mg 3x/day. It helped a lot for years, totally zapped my anxiety. Never had an issue with it.

Eventually I went off it, over the course of about two months. Getting off it wasn't that big of a deal.

This might sound a little blunt but I say just take it. Don't sweat it if it is working so well. Just find a competent pdoc if you should ever have to taper. Yes, I remember when you had to come off of it before and even I thought it was idiotic for you to have to come off of it so soon. It will clearly help you enjoy your life better!

My mom has been taking it for years. 2mg a day. She has anxiety but no other mental health issues diagnosed. I don't see the problem with taking it if it works. My mom would puke from anxiety often....you can't live like that. Make sure they taper you more slowly next time. I've taken benzos on several occassions. I only take it daily for a few weeks and I've never had any withdrawal symptoms. Most of our meds have withdrawal symptoms ....that's not a reason not to take it in my opinion. I'm glad it's working and you are able to take it. I can't go near a school during drop off or release because all those kids and cars and parents and people make me lose it completely these days. Good luck Raspberry.

I'd say the 4mg was too much, but clearly none was too little. Take this small amount as prescribed if it is making a positive difference for you. Sounds like a healthy medium.

I take 2 mg of clonazepam twice a day and Xanax ER 2 mg twice a day .prn as a back up for panic attacks. Too much? Could be but it's really helped with my anxiety problems. It allows me to focus more on my depression. If I come off I'll have my pdoc help me taper.

I also took 1.5/ day. My new pdoc wants me off due to "cognitive issues" which i think is bull****. New pdoc gave me .5 to take prn. She put me on gabapentin.

Husband is now sick and I am mega stressed. I have been taking Klonopin like crazy the last few days. I know I can gradually get off of it again.

Take the 1.5. Enjoy life and get rid of the anxiety. Your kids r better for it.

huh. well easy to tell the doctors don t take the meds because they don't seem to know what they do. gabapentin gave me hella "cognitive issues" but klonopin does not.
