Tuesday I hired a woman from craigslist to come clean my apt. My friend did a background check on her. Everything seemed fine. She left at 8:30pm and was going to come the next day to finish up. About 11 I go to get my meds, I had hidden them in my sons room. They were gone! I think she thought they were pain meds bc I have a very injured back. But I don't take pain pills. They were just psych meds.

I had to file a police report to get them replaced. I was out of them for 2 days. That means no sleep for me. I was crying, suicidal, angry, crying again, suicidal again, felt so violated. Oh she also took my house key. Had to get the locks changed. It's been crazy! I finally got about 5 hours sleep last night. Took extra zyprexa. I feel a little better today. I was headed into a mixed episode I think.

It's been a really tough few days.

I'm so sorry! Craigslist is evil. There are so many horror stories. I wish you hadn't had to go through that. You don't deserve it!

Damn what a scary situation.

I am glad you filed a report not only to get your psych meds but they can find her and she will be arrested, That part would make me feel a tad bit better.

Rest now and be kind to yourself.

Isn't Zyprexa notorious for weight gain? I hope she takes it and gains 20 lbs and that it all goes to her @ss. Then when she bends over, her pants rip at the asscrack and you can tell the police that all they have to do is look for a crazy woman with her asscrack showing

Sorry she did this. Vile (moronic) swamp creature...

Thanks Christina, I think she gave a fake name. I didn't check her id. I should have. I wish I could rest but I'm still struggling. Crying again.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Have you tried to contact her to see if maybe she moved them? I would be so upset. How soon can you get everything refilled? Best wishes.

I hate people like that, they make life harder for everyone. Sorry you had to go though that.

This extra zyprexa is making me hungry, ****! And I don't have food here, maybe that's a good thing.

She didn't move them, she wasn't allowed in my sons room. I have had them replaced, but I was out of them for 2 days. I don't sleep without my meds. So I have been really struggling. Also some other stressors in my life. Thanks

I had my pain meds stolen by someone working in my mom's house right after my hysterectomy. It was all our fault; we told them that I would be upstairs sleeping because I was recovering from surgery. They left early with a really weird explanation and when I came down half my pills were gone. Fortunately they left me enough for a few days and my doctor's office was really nice about refilling them but if that happened now with the new restrictions on narcotics it would have been much more difficult. I just hated how it made me not trust people even more than I already did not trust people.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, especially because you were taking measures to prevent it. I hope things level off soon.

I'm very sorry this happened to you, Rose.
I'd have a breakdown, too, especially since you'd taken measures to prevent having them taken!

I don't feel so bad for guarding my meds so much after reading your story.

We've had the same housekeeper for about five years. I taught her daughter in school and that was how we found her. She's incredibly reliable and trustworthy. HOWEVER, we have a lock box and keep all meds in there. My son has friends come over and frankly, you just never know.

Sorry you had this trauma and drama.

Locking up meds is a great idea.

When the house is full of people, during holiday gatherings and other activities, our meds also go into the lockbox and into a locked filing cabinet drawer. This may seem excessive; yet, I also have morphine and dilaudid on hand. We have nieces and nephews of all ages. We are concerned not only about meds being taken, but accidental overdoses with the children/teens.
There's a fair amount of substance abuse in our families. There are a few siblings we are not sure we'd trust with meds.

(We also use a lockbox while traveling. I won't get into the procedures we follow while traveling with meds.)

Someone could walk away with a small lockbox. They aren't going to walk away with a filing cabinet.

I like the way you think, WC.

And not only are the portable ones, you know, portable, they are often quite pickable. I found this fact out the hard way, unfortunately. More than once. Spent increasing amounts of money with no real gain in security. Finally just gave up that route, as my funds fall far, far short of anything providing any appreciable level of security.

There are hiding places and then there are hiding places. I've come up with a few brilliant ones, but it all gets a bit much trying to keep track when cognitive issues are figured in. Worst part is I don't feel free to share because the info can be used by the bad as well. Sorry state of affairs.

I'm so sorry you had such a deplorable experience, rose.
