So here i go, after i got out of hospital a little over a year ago i was supposed to have help from the community mental health team but i didnt. I later received a letter saying that i must go to a drug addiction clinic. At this point i hadn't smoke any marijauna in over two months and they knew that. Now i dont know what to do, im getting worse but i cant get help, i could go private but i dont have money to do that. I need to be able to look after my mum but it's getting harder to do so as my depression is always getting worse. I honestly would just like help to deal with this but it seems that will never happen.

I dont usually post on the site but i just needed someplace to vent what i was thinking.

Where i live you need to go to your GP who then will make an appointment with the mental health team for you. But the mental health team wont help me because i used to smoke marijauna, it makes no sense.

How long is the program at the drug addiction clinic? I would be tempted to do it if it will lead to you getting the help you need. I hope you start feeling better soon. Best wishes.

I agree with Jennifer. Why not get your foot in the door through the addiction clinic?

ugh. ridiculous. mental health "professionals" are so Puritanical about anything that might make one feel good. Maybe that's why they're all so gung-ho about antidepressants, antipsychotics, etc.? I dunno.

I don't know the UK health system. My best guess would be that going to this addiction clinic might get you, somehow, to people who might actually help you. But...I don't know the system. I personally cannot stand a lot of "experts" in the "addiction" field. I live in the US, and...they can be crazy at times, especially in public/community health.

I go to a website a now and then...mad in america. They have people who contribute from all over, including the UK. Looks like there's some cool stuff in some places in the UK, like the hearing voices network and some organizations run by people who are in (or have been in) "the system." I don't know if that's what you're looking for, but it might be something to take a look at it, if you feel like it.

I hope things get better for you.
