Does anyone else get triggered by holidays?

I feel stressed when I'm supposed to feel stress free. I mean, I always try to relax during holidays by watching tv shows and movies, but I always end up feeling agitated like I am right now. Then an episode (usually) comes shortly after.

I guess I just find holidays *in general* to be very triggering. I have family etc to celebrate the holidays with, but I just don't like holidays. I want to DO something. I hate sitting at home doing nothing. I have a bike etc, but I want to do something more social, I guess, but not stuck at home with family members who like to sit in the kitchen literally from 11:30am until 6pm. (This happens every holiday.)

Edit: most stores are closed anyways on July 4th, but I want something social to do!

Thanksgiving and Christmas trigger me in a big way. This time period is where I have most of my panic attacks. Other holidays to a lesser degree.

I don't find holidays triggering per say. Christmas stresses me out though, and stress is a trigger. It's the financial stress, trying to do to many things, needing to clean my house, etc. The family aspect I enjoy though.

Holidays stress me out. Thinking about them is much worse than the actual event. I tend to act impulsively and make bad choices right before the holidays. I become unstable due to worrying and all the pressure.

Christmas stress a definite trigger. I'm stressed just thinking about it now.
Thanks for this!

Interestingly I'm not triggered by Christmas. 4th of July is another thing because of all the fireworks and idiots who think it's funny to shoot off a gun in a suburban neighborhood. I hate fireworks--yes it's pretty, but it sounds like bombs going off.

No holidays don't stress me as long as I get to stay home. I hate driving on holidays especially the fourth and New Years because of idiots who think it's ok to drink and drive.

Can you get your family to go to the parade or fireworks?

----response I find the big holidays most triggering, because there are so many fantasies about perfect families associated with them. Either there is too much to do, which is triggering with stress, or nothing if family isn't getting together. Yeah, Im bored too. Im going to try to find volunteer work that fits me. Even if they don't have activities on holidays, being busier in general will help a lot. Let's Get a Life!

Yes! Family interactions aren't very pleasant, unfortunately.

In general, holidays are a trigger. Every now and then, I'll feel good around Christmas. It's either really good or really triggering, depending on both what is going on in my life, my past, and if I am in any particular kind of episode. I do like Halloween. Birthdays make me feel uncomfortable. I don't look forward to family gatherings that much these days, unless it's only certain people. I cry more on the holidays. July 4 used to be a lot more exciting for me. Now I do nothing and don't have anyone in my life who feels like doing anything any way, so it seems.

I find that holidays are a horrible trigger for me and I remain in a depressed state for much of the month said holiday falls under. I no longer keep in contact with my family for various reasons, and the lack of said relationship is very daunting on me emotionally. Since I lost my father back in 2012 to cancer I have been dreading most major holidays.

I don't "do" any holidays, so no stress/triggering from that angle, but 4th of July, well... I like a good show as much as the next person -- visually, not sound-wise (though I don't go), but people setting them off in neighborhoods -- especially at random non-4th times, ugh! Hypervigilence is an issue for me so I spend about 2 weeks every year jumping a mile every time one goes off. Not a fan.

Maybe I'm the fortunate one, I don't find holidays triggering. At the very least, I have time off work to spend with my wife and kids. At best, we travel to see extended family. I enjoy them very much.
