Weird thread, but... I need something (healthy) to preoccupy myself when manic. Any ideas?
I keep spending tons of money that I don't have, and I'm doing batshit crazy stuff. I need something to distract me, to keep me preoccupied. My attention is terrible because I can't keep focus on one thing without my racing mind f_cking with me. Definitely NO driving anywhere, not to the mall, the park, or anything. I drove 69 in a 40 today going the dentist, and zigzagged everywhere. I need to refrain from driving. Last time I was caught speeding, I was doing 57 in a 35 and I had to go to court to plead with them not to suspend my license. Also, walking is not an option here unless I want to die from getting hit by a speeding car. |

Exercise. There are tons of free workouts available on Youtube. It's a way to keep both body and mind busy.

If you've got racing thoughts, have you tried Klonopin?

Yeah it's not good when mania sets in, your medication should really have alleviated that by now. I cannot stand to be manic these days . As a teenager I just rolled with it, not now, no way. When I am a little wound up I sort of divide my attention. Ill have music on while I read something light like graphic novels.
The internet is the best thing in the planet when manic lol . I wouldn't do intense exercise . It might tire your body but not your brain. |

Let me know when you find something that works. I'm going crazy over here with nothing to do. Less than two hours left in the work day today and I am struggling to find anything time consuming that will keep my attention more than a minute.

I paint a room. I've painted 4 rooms in 6 months. Drives my husband crazy when he comes home and I've got the ladder and paint gear out and the tunes going but hey, what's a fresh coat of paint if it keeps me focussed on something.
I will also walk and walk and walk and walk but it sounds like that is not an option for you. Good luck, take care ![]() |
