(I decided to make this a voting thread, just because, I guess)
I don't find that chrisis lines help me, at all. everytime i've rang them, i've been... not let down by them, but surprised at how much more support they could have given but didn't. I often find it's just like talking to a close friend who understands you, (like someone you've all ready explained it too), and I hang up.. not feeling worse than before, but feel like i've just wasted the last half an hour talking to them, just for them to tell me something that anyone could have told me. what are your thoughts on chrisis lines? |

What more support could they have given?

I only use them in severe cases. times where I feel that I need to go to hospital or something like that. so I guess when I use them, I expect them to send me help, or show a bit more concern for my welfare and when they don't.. I just feel let down |

So it makes things worse?

The IOP I used to be in had their own crisis line. If I called they would direct my call to either the program director or the psychiatrist there (every time I called I got the psychiatrist). Usually he convinced me to go to the ER but other times he has calmed me down.
Other crisis lines haven't been as helpful though. |

I can't speak to the state of crisis line now days as it has been many many years since I used them. I wanted someplace I could speak out loud what was going on and deescalate the intense feeling but instead they were always calling the police on me...if I had wanted a hospital I could have called myself. Maybe I should have called sooner and not waited so long? I know that now days there's video chat and text chat and many more options, hopefully that means they've gotten better at helping folks.
